Day Z; or how eve has eroded my interwebz morality

I'm a bit late on the bandwagon (as usual) with Day Z, but I've recently started playing it and have to say I love it.

I like the 'dead is dead' aspect of the game, I like how harsh and unforgiving it can be.

The thing that I really like though is scamming honest/naive people out of their stuff, stealing equipment from them, stealing vehicles, or baiting people into hilarious traps etc etc. The friends I team up with (who don't play eve) seem to be genuinely quite shocked at my in-game behaviour and how often I do this, and I have to admit, it IS 'because of eve'.

If I hadn't played eve I'm 100% sure I would be far more morally upright and honest within Day Z, and probably somewhat bored by now.

Because of eve, I'm happily teaming up with random people, baiting them into buildings, leading a horde of undead in after them and barricading them all in together for happy times.

Anyone else find eve has somewhat skewed their interwebz moral compass?

It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

I also recently started Dayz as well after weeks of whining from teammates to join, and I find that I also go by the eve moral code and I treat everybody like a 0.0 neutral, essentially shooting them on sight rather than letting them do something like any of the above mentioned.
And yeah, the dead is dead aspect has been great except for the hack issue. I have no issue dying to a sniper in Elecktro or getting eaten by 20 zombies because I went left when I should have gone right, but being teleported to a random location and summarily shot within the first 40 minutes of trying the game wasn't cool. But supposedly within a month much of that should go away.

My moral compass pointed firmly south before I came to Eve. I will credit this fine game with truly allowing me to spread my wings, however. Never has being a bastard felt so good.

Wouldn't say it's because of EVE. The kind of shenanigans you speak of are central to every reality show ever.

Maybe it was unique behavior once upon a time, but now it's common.

"hey I need medivac here at 054065"

"on our way in a huey"

*huey comes into view and starts to slow down and decend*

a squad of as50's open up on the chopper, instantly disabling the engine and killing the pilot. The heli goes down in a ball of flames...

tears flood side chat.

Not that much different from eve really. Just with zombies.

Morality and the InterWebz.. How could those two things ever cause chaos?!
