Dear capsuleers,

Can you please explain me how the mechanics of faction warfare work?

Can I go solo into Faction Warfare if i am in a corp and/or alliance?

If yes...will this affect anything concerning my corp/alliance mates?

If no.....does this mean then that i can only enter solo if i leave the corp

Thx in advance,

Preacher

If you join as an individual, you enter one of the four NPC militia corps (State Protectorate, 24th Imperial Crusade, Tribal Liberation Force, Federal Defense Union) depending on which race you choose to fight for.

Those four corps are all at war with the two opposing factions. Standard wardec mechanics, you're a valid target EVERYWHERE including highsec. Additionally, entering highsec belonging to your opposing factions spawns NPC faction navies to come shoot you AND you can't dock in stations in enemy held systems.

If you sign up as a corp/alliance, the above applies to everyone in your corp/alliance.

Generally, you should go in as a corp because no one trust militia pubbies.

You, people, must be new to the Internet. There is a party to help you adapt to amazing things you may face. Lemon party ;-)

Lyrics aside - to return to our topic: you cannot join FW while in corp / alliance unless you change corporation to NPC militia or your whole corp / alliance join FW. You can join player corps but usually FW corps don't accept new players as they suspect spies everywhere (while many of them spies themselves) and you'll have to earn few faction ranks - solo or in small random gangs picked in militia channel - before applying to decent FW-focused corp.
