Oh I agree, CCP has made quite a boring one at the moment. There should be much more scope for differentiating.

lol Smart Ass...
Well to be honest, there has been a lot of immediate playing of the man in the thread and not much discussion of the topic.

I think the Holy Grail of balance is bad for EVE. I think in chaotic systems a natural order will establish itself.

CCP concentrate so much on trying to avoid the donut-hole of imbalance, they don't get any donut.

Which ones are viable? All the ships with insane amounts of configurations against who knows what opposition.

That's randomness and chaos. Maybe your FoTW fit will prevail, maybe it won't

You telling me if you had a Hurricane with subsystems, rigs, and tweakable slots you have less choice?

Balance gives you less risk.

Presses F10,
Selects -> Statistics -> Average Piliots in Space in the last 30 mins
= Awful lot of blackness outside of high sec
Selects -> Statistics -> Number of Pilots Currently Docked and Active
= Awful lot of blackness outside of high sec

Don't think there's enough people playing (or waaaaaaaaaaay too much space out there)

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

Built by CCP

Balance means mixing it up, Fleets need to be rethought, New Fits, for New Situations. I like it when they change a ship... something, will always take it place and offer a better/New challenge

Billions of people in the known universe and there is no innovation - Why does every ship have to be so uniform with minor tweaking of accepted fits? Why don’t they all have subsystems to foster innovation? Or even the ability to re-assign slots?

Rigs exist for all normal ships

T3 subsystems only exist thanks to the Sleeper technology, which Capsuleer get by committing genocide.

Unsurprisingly, I'm sure not everyone wants to be associated with that.

Tell that to all the techmoons we in the CFC are sitting on.

You start with no skills, then you can specialise given enough time. Just like real life!

Balance is about to make 20+ ships that have not been used in years a viable role to play.

OP

CCP tried several of the items you mentioned.
Everything from ships to resources.

There was lots of tears in null
CCP changed it so that everything is the same.

Don't blame CCP for the game being the way it is.
A lot of it has to do with the players.

Every time CCP tries to make things interesting, people complain.

This would be an interesting concept but give it 6 months to a year or even less and everyone would be using cookie cutter builds of the same kinds of ships again which had been "optimised" by players.

I'm honestly happier with the current rebalancing and looking to seeing what they do with the battleships and then finally the T2 in the future.

+1

Why do people who don't like EVE keep playing EVE. Seems masochistic to me.

Of course the "i just want EVE to be better" crowd will pop up, because they don't understand that no amount of changing things is ever going to make them happy....because they can't BE happy.
