That's pretty much the standard for your replies on this forum, you drop some one liners that are full of bullshit that don't actually mean anything.

But that was my last reply, as I have better **** to do than argue with a moron on a forum.

Read that two lines of yours together and let them sink a bit.
Could it be that someone was a bit earlier with some conclusion than you?

On topic: I think the game is looking good enough and at the same time performs well enough. Keep in mind quite some people run a couple of instances on a single computer regularly. I wouldn't want to have 2 gfx cards per client in my computer.

Also imo graphics doesn't actually add much to a games immersion, let alone depth. In fact I'm not exactly happy with the ever added light and colorful backgrounds. It's meant to be a dark place, as space actuallly is. Without atmosphere you don't have ambient lighting if I'm not mistaken. With increasing levels of dust that would allow the lighting it'd have to start affecting shields or else decrease immersion levels because it's just wrong.

Meh, rambling now.

Why the hell am i mentioning him ? Because i've spent two days figuring
out how to make GTA IV photorealistic thanks to his mod.

Check this and the others. ^_^

Edit: And whoever compared Crysis to EvE has no clue and should be shot on sight.

Because if you were not utterly clueless, you would know that modding your Eve client is against the EULA and TOS.

And yet you call me clueless.

Also, why the **** not compare Eve to Crysis?
Just because idiots say that an MMO can't look good because "insert bullshit hilariously misinformed reason here"?

Only real reason why MMOS are not made to look like the Crysis / Metro 2033 standard is because most people don't have aweseome computers and that would really **** the player base up, not because of some ******** bullshit technical limitation like "it's online" or some ****.

I find it interesting that for someone with the breadth of experience you claim to have, you don't understand the differences inherent in how graphics must be handled in a huge multiplayer game compared to single/liimited player games.

Crysis is used as a benchmark for graphics card testing because it is incredibly demanding. It brings many otherwise capable systems and video cards to a crawl. Now multiply that by a 3000 man fleet battle and you begin to understand.

There is certainly room for improvement, indeed that work is constantly ongoing... and discussions about Tesselation have already begun. But you will never get the kind of graphics quality in EVE that you will get in a game that doesn't have the potenttial for thousands of players to be on screen at once.

That is a bad argument.

Crysis is demanding on computers because it has so many environmental effects and terrain/foliage/walls/complex geometry/complex humanoid models/dynamic meshes/flying bullets/physics objects affected by gravity to compute and display.

Have you ever seen how solar systems are built in Eve?

They're nothing but a bunch of sky boxes, some spheres for the planets, the station/object models and effects, and the ships, which are LOD'd to hell and back (in an incredibly ****** and snappy and non subtle manner I might add) if you zoom out past 100 km, so it doesn't even affect performance when zoomed out.
Only way that would have an impact on the performance would be if you clump 500 ships together in a very tight sphere and then zoomed in on them really close.

Eve doesn't have real physics that need to be calculated precisely, it does not have liquid simulation, it barely has any animations, the effects are ****** and the sound engine is god awful.

In fact, space based games are some of the simplest-to-run simulations out there.

Eve could look as good or even better than Crysis 2 and Metro 2033 with no problem if CCP didn't use all their resources and money and time on **** that's destined to fail like Dust 514 and World of Darkness.

I realize you have already admitted defeat and abandoned the thread, but I wanted to take a moment to point out that every point you made in this thread points out exactly why EVE is the only game out there where you can have active user battles anywhere this big and still have a very attractive game.

Yes, we have to give up certain things to achieve that. It is intentional and handled well.

The only person not understanding why in this thread is, apparently, you.

Let me start with Shocked

Now let me put forward my grumpy opinion. You've caught me in a foul mood today so no holding back.

Know what made WoW so popular? Do you think it was innovation? No. Do you think it was content? No. Do you think it was graphics? No. It was the fact that their graphics sucked so bad that people could actually play smoothly, en masse, without worrying about connections dropping.

There will always be a prettier game.

For a MMO, Eve is gorgeous. Period. End of discussion.

Could it be better? Of course. I play with the ingame assets in 3D and they are stunning. Why would they do this but not fully utilize this in the game?

Lowest common denominator. I'm talking about the average IQ of a forum user here, I'm talking machine specs. If you crank up the game to the point where only 5% of the playerbase could fully utilize it, then you've just missed out. Sure, it's all client side, but clients have limitations. You go with the biggest market to keep them happy, as client issues are always the hardest to resolve as they differ so drastically.

Whine all you want. Disagree all you want. You're still wrong.

Eve continues to define what artistry is for an MMO. I have no doubt it will continue to do so.

Never start a fight you can win.

I think World Of Panda's was so successful b/c of the ease of play 12345 123456 1234 space 1234...et cetera.

EVE has been updated several times, and the textures are much better than they used to be. However, I have noticed that on some ships *cough*Raven*cough*, even at the highest graphics settings and at default zoom, textures are a bit blurry. This is hardly the major issue you make it out to be, though I will admit to wanting a resolution upgrade for textures (could the resolution used be tied into the LOD system - smaller textures for further objects?)

Heres the Low Textures im talking about lookin from right to left of pic they improve cuz of distance. Zoom to closest distance and ull nodice how bad textures are.

I was almost in agreement with you until I found your Skyrim Necro Pron. I can't take you seriously now.
