[EDIT] A note to those shareholders who have already cast their votes against Ba'Ba; it is not too late to change your votes. Have you truly considered the full ramifications of voting to punish a paying citizen of New Hisec for the crime of honest speech?

And here is my justification, as well as a plea to shareholders who have not yet cast their votes;

Before condemning Ba'Ba, we naturally need to take a look at what we are condemning her for. And what is her crime? It is, at the deepest level, questioning the purpose of the New Order. Questioning the benefits that it, James 315 and the Agents bring her. Ba'Ba professes to wish to know what the New Order protects her from, and, when given the stock answers, she rejects them as trivial or not true.

Sad as this is, it is not damning. Ba'Ba is a miner, not a shareholder or an Agent. We cannot truly expect all miners to love the Order as we do, while our cause is still so young. That she be accepting of the regulations imposed upon her should be enough, for now. And we can hardly deny that she has been accepting; she paid the 30,000,000 ISK, which is far more than we ask most miners to do.

Ba'Ba has followed the Code to the letter. Many miners do far worse than Ba'Ba has done. They curse in local, they threaten retribution against loyal agents of the Order, they attempt violence and openly curse the name of James 315. In contrast, Ba'Ba has merely asked about the Order, and many shareholders seem to believe that she should be returned to the Red Pen List for this "gross outrage".

In addition, Ba'Ba is currently of Protected status. She has paid her 30,000,000 to an Agent. She is a member of the Order, if not a fully fledged Agent. Surely she deserves some leeway? Surely we can allow our loyal (as a paying member, Ba'Ba is undeniably more loyal than 90% of the miners of New Hisec) citizens some modicum of free speech? Do we truly wish for New Hisec to become a censored state, where miners and agents alike are afraid to engage in discussion for fear of retribution?

Finally, Ba'Ba has continued to show liveliness and spirit in this matter. Would it be better if she simply remained silent and oblivious of her surroundings like our mortal enemies, the bots and the AFKers. Is it not better than a citizen of the New Order be an independant, intelligent, upstanding and inquisitive member of the community rather than just another name in Local?

By all means, shareholders, vote against Ba'Ba. But consider this, by voting for her punishment for the crime of speaking, you are voting for a censored Hisec, a state of silent, passive bots! By voting for this gross injustice, you will make an enemy of any Agent or Shareholder who truly wishes for New Hisec to become the paradise of intellect and free thinking that it was intended to be.

Hopefully this time she will realize what she has before she so carelessly throws it away.

After reading Mr. Murray's post I too want to add the stipulation that I will change my vote to no if a full apology and declaration of James 315 as the true Savior of High Sec is publically made. Mr. Murray once again shows that he is full of compassion and willingness to forgive the wayward miners and their rebellious ways.

I have sympathy for this player. They do not understand that you are protecting them from slipping into the dark areas of laziness (afk or bot mining) or from Mob miner mentality. We have all seen how when in large groups the miners puff out their chests and beat them like dominate gorillas trying to take charge.

It is hard for people to understand your stance is proactive, of hopefully heading off those behaviors before they infect themselves in your miner followers and then you offer rehab for those miners already infected. You work both sides of the problem.

**Edit. Your job is difficult James, but you knew that when you signed up for this leadership role. Ba'Ba should thank you after this vote and realize the extreme amount of patience you and the shareholders are allowing her. Part of me wonders if my vote will only encourage more of this bad behavior. These miners do not realize that with leadership comes vast amounts of responsibility.....

Best of luck James!!

2nd edit. I went back and reread all the comments in the thread and then BaBa's final statement. I was disgusted that even after all that is being done to help them they continue to DEMAND from james315. I made a mistake with my vote. I jumped the gun. I would change it to YES but my vote has been cast.

Let my mistake serve to all to research and contemplate before casting such a Monumental thing as a vote for the order, whichever way you vote. I will hang my head in shame for abusing the honor of being able to vote.

I don't buy Ba'Ba's apathetic drivel for a second. Ba'Ba's playing one of the classic deceptions on us.......

"I only mine what I need to keep my alt and my special lil ponies in ISK" Roll

I will give Ba'Ba credit for a good delivery though. She/he/it actually paid the penalty to get cover to devolve back into an ice-bot. Thankfully, James 315 sniffed this nefarious con in time and put Ba'Ba on front street.

Ba'Ba's earlier payment of the Red Pen penalty of 30M isk implies submission to the New Order of High Sec.

Though Ba'Ba could have been more kind to our magnificient leader, the Supreme Protector, we are not a personality cult and not being very kind to the Father of the New Order is not in itself a violation of The Code.

She's following the letter but not the spirit of the code. In order for there to be full code-compliance, one must agree with the spirit as well.

I'd like to take a moment to reach out to Ba'Ba before I cast my vote.

You have asked multiple times what protection you have paid for, what do you possibly gain from staying under New Order rule and declaring James your Supreme Protector? It's a tough question to give a sound bite answer for, but I'm no politician. I'll lay some information down on you.

When I started acting, I was introduced to the Screen Actor's Guild. They, much like the New Order, intended to preserve order by taking over managerial duties for us stars. Much like the SAG, the New Order also preserves order by keeping out those that wish to cheapen your profession. We bump out those that wish to flood the market with cheap product, and make sure they never return. We make sure that you have less competition, raising prices as ice demand increases. With the new Ice Interdiction, you stand to make a pretty penny.

Most of all is the acknowledgement that James 315 is the one to lead you through this. To accept our ways and simultaneously dismiss the man that made it happen cheapens our efforts. It makes you a taker; someone that has received our help without giving a pittance of credit to those that made it happen. You have already been saved once by James' grace by being removed from the Red Pen list, and yet you still will not recognize him as the Supreme Protector of Halaima and the Annexes, the Savior of Highsec.

I cast my vote as a Yes, and put my full 550 votes behind my conviction with one small provision: If you publicly announce James as your Supreme Protector by the close of the vote, I will switch my votes to No. This is the most leniency I can allow for your current offense.

Although her first encounters with the new order certainly warranted the red pen list, she has paid and understood her redemption from what I can gather. Asking her to kneel isn't what I want from The New Order, as she is apparently not part of the people we want to change, but seems like rather a good miner. I wouldn't kneel before the person I elected and would take serious offense should he ask me to do so.

My 50 votes will go to No this time.

Ba'Ba has shown submission and obediance to the order, this is all we can ask of anyone. I'm sure that she will come to love James 315 and the Code in time. For now I say we let her mine in peace and show her the Code by way of our actions.

I agree with sentiment expressed earlier in this thread. Ba'Ba might -question- the Code, but look at her actions, not her words. I do not see in her the child, who does not understand and must be led. I see instead the adolescent, young, questioning. She is asking questions, yes. She is disgruntled, yes. But she has paid her dues, and her actions are not of a bot aspirant, but of someone who is now -fully engaged- with the universe around them. She is not AFK. She is not just another drone. No, she has risen above this.

Perhaps one day she will grow further, and understand fully and love the Code.

Perhaps one day, she may even grow to great things in EVE, no longer mindlessly, passively consuming it but instead drinking deep from the draught of challenges - and rewards! - it has to offer.

I consider Ba'Ba in good standing.

In my opinion Ba'ba should be shown mercy. She has paid for a mining permit, and has indicated she will pay again in one years time. I think this shows compliance.

She may not like the New Order and not see its benefits right now, but by showing mercy, I think she will in time grow to love the New Order and see why it is needed. Making her pay another 30m for asking a question, I think, will not accomplish this goal.

My 200 votes are for [x] No, she may continue to mine in peace as a member of the New Order family in good standing.
