CCP stealth nerfed exploration?

Went out exploring and quickly found a 4/10 site and a Hemorphite site (Everyshore high sec). The 4/10 site sucked, and the Hemorphite got sucked. All seemed normal.

But every patch it does seem like exploration gets messed up somehow. Some areas go barren for a week or two, then things straighten out.

CCP, maybe you should make a time lapse movie of signature locations starting on a patch day and going forward. It might show if there are any oddities.

No there would not. That's not how “random” works.

Funny, I started goofing around with exploration about 5 days ago, running sites 12 hours a day. Maybe my alt corp is the reason for your dry spell? What region:D

The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse [lady of commercial virtue]. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.- James Nicoll

Thing is all great and mighty Tippia there is no such thing as random because any number generator has to be man made most likely using a human made algorithm. Therefore never ever actually random. This is how card counting can work in casinos if you know what algorithm the card dealing machines use you can win the house.

Also I'm talking nullsec here, not those poxy worthless empire sites.

You fail to see a grander scale.

Not saying that this is your case, but it's a perfectly valid example:

Somebody finds a region where he is mostly alone and can explore his heart out.
For three weeks straight, every system he scans in he finds sites he loves to run.
After three weeks ... nothing. Whole region is almost dead for too long to care staying there.

That's how it works. A bug could only be claimed if there were more people experiencing
the same issue, because that would indicate an anomaly.

Remember that for an infinite set of numbers, all digits are spread evenly. Your problem is
that you can only review a small, finite part of that infinite set of numbers and thus you ...
... and eventually everybody ... will find himself in a situation like yours ... wondering.

Unless, of course, you know better.

Now you know better.

You're welcome.

Yeah, the 250,000,000 ISK I made mining out a Large Hemo/Hedb/Jasp Site yesterday in 1 hour and 15 minutes is worthless, m'kay ?

I don't find it sad, or funny, or anything. Should make no difference to anybody.

If you are just trying to troll, it's a very bad job of it tbh.

sounds like OP got spoiled by frequent ded sites. go to another region.
and here's your explanation:
1) random
2) you aren't the only explorer in eve

4 days is nothing.

I saw something like what your reporting last for about 6 months. It got so bad that hostiles were sharing intel on sites... or the lack there of.

Eh, no. Card counting works because you know the statistics and you have a very limited (ed: not to mention exhaustible) set of outcomes.

Just because the algorithm is pseudo-random doesn't change the fact that, no, “random” does not work that way. If it was random, there would be exactly the amount there is, and at any given period of time, this amount would be unpredictable and have no connection to any other period of time. An guess what, that seems to be exactly what you're experiencing.

For instance, observe this set of random numbers: 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3.

My favorite example of random number counting is the digits of Pi. Any piece, large or small, is utterly random.

Sometimes I'm not sure if people have even been taught what random truly means mathematically.

But trying to use casino games as an example of random is definitely flat out wrong indeed.

The machines that deal cards in casinos use mathematical algorithms. Therefore the cards can never ever be truly random.

I'm not butt hurt by lack of sites, but I was not aware they work like wormhole sites.

I wish jerks would go in the game and leave the forums because you ruin perfectly decent topics.

I am posting about something that is indeed very real, based on factual findings. This is not based on 1 days exploring niether this is 4 ish days of an entire region being dry.

In my opinion it is improbable that close to 25 systems be dry of sites for 4 days straight.

If indeed it is a bug as CCP Goliath states it could be then it needs looking into now.

the plural of anecdote is not data.
