What you SHOULD be doing...

Yeah... doesn't anyone play Eve correctly? Jeez

Some do, some don't.

Some (#1s)come in, recognize the nature of the game (which is cold, hard conflict, pvp and one of the game industry's most unforgiving death penalties), decide whether that game is for them or not, and leave or stay based on what they find.

Others (#2s) come in expecting the universe (both the game universe and the actual physical "real" universe) to cater to them personally because they paid 15 bucks. They try to play a multi-player game like it's a single players game, they try to play a hardcore game "casually" and they never leave protected newbie space, thenbitch and moan about everything, tell the developers to change the game to suit them and get mad at everyone else for pointing out how dumb that is....

Seems like the #2s are multiplying like rabbits for some reason, or maybe they've always been here and I didn't notice over the sound of actually playing the game.

I can't let this go. These fallacies somehow endure and I have to respond.

Eve is not a (it pains me just to repeat this cliche) cold, harsh universe. There is nothing hardcore about any computer game ever. You fly pixel spaceships and they get blown up. Some people take that too seriously but that is irrelevant to the reality of the fact that you are playing a game with pretend stuff in it.

You can easily play this game casually just as it is. It is possible to earn ISK, fly spaceships and find fights with very little dedication to this game.

So can we please stop claiming this game is hardcore?

This.

I just don't understand null sec players.

**Please note: **Anytime I use the phrase PvP in a post, I'm talking about shooting/combat/killing things/blowing things up. Thank you.

lol, you like to join the "wrong" bandwagon I see.

Most people would call EVE a hardcore game relative to the entire rest of the MMO universe. It's not "real" it's just "real hard" for the vast majority of people. So much so that Epic posters of EVE's incrdibly high learning curve is everywhere.

All that is moot that, because you people miss the point (as usual)

EVE is what it is, and yet many people of the Dar Manic persuasion would rather it be seen as something else entirely. The Reality of EVE is not a mystery, hell fire the people who MAKE the game tell you what it's all about all the damn time:

CCP Falcon wrote:

You sir, understand EVE to its black hearted, capitalist, dog eat dog core, with an awesome separation between in game and out of game actions.

And yet some people will cover their ears and yell nah nah nah I can't hear you when this is explained to them.

You can play a multiplayer game like it's single player, you can play a hardcore game like it's a casual game, you can play a highly social game as a loner ect ect ect. And as long as you realize that what your doing my be your preference but is NOT the purpose of the game (ie you're making yourself something of a second class citizen by making these choices) and are willing to accept the consequences (such as non-consensual pvp), that's totally fine.

It's when these misfits start complaining, even advocating "change", that things get stupid.

Why all the hate for high sec? You know how I use high sec? I run missions there and I sell my stuff there so I can spend the ISK on ships and then go PVP with them in low sec and sometimes in null if I feel like I definitely want to lose my ship instead of just maybe. Then, when I run out of ISK I go back to high sec to get some more dosh.

Also at the moment I am farming FW for more money but we all know that little gravy train will soon reach its last stop.

If high sec got nerfed, it would be a lot harder for me to get the green I need to fund the PVP we love and that this game is really about. Making it take longer to earn that dolla will only mean I have to grind more for less, and lose ships less often. We need taergets right? And targets require ISK to buy ships so you can blow them up.

OK, I know there are those who just stay in high sec and horde their stuff and faction fit their mission tengus and what have you but no matter how much you nerf high sec the risk adverse will still remain there. No amount of stick will get them into low but maybe the right type of carrot.

Anyway, I'm a casual player. No time for null and the logistics of living there so ISK grinding there is not an option. And to be honest I CBA with CTA, killboard etc so it is not for me.

All I want to do is PVP and grind as little as possible to make that happen. High sec ISK sources are important to help me and others like me fund that lifestyle so please don't nerf them.

Even as a casual player, you are much better off in NullSec isk wise and you won't have to go far for PvP. There are plenty of Null Alliances that have ship replacement programs. just my 2 cents.

You see, the problem is that OP goes to low/null sec prepared. He selects proper ship, and he expects to fight. He does not goes there in mission/mining/transport ship focusing on something else other than watch his back. He is not easy target. That's why he is beeing hated by nullbears.

"This is the ideal world", i.e. it would make sense if the game was designed to reward people who wants to do offensive PVP in null, to make isk in null. It would also make sense if people who don't want to directly partake in offensive PVP would have an incentive to partake indirectly by living in the same area and support those who do want to do offensive PVP. Unfortunately, CCP has decided, in their incompetence, to not make this the case, and for all intents and purposes it looks like CCP aren't going to even try to fix this imbalance the next 2-3 expansions either, which means you make money in hisec and blow up stuff in low/null.

Now, if you want to claim that this is the best way the game can be designed to be played, then I'm going to just say that you're wrong.

Erm, you do notice that you aren't quoting ME right, as I am not "Inquisitor Kitchner"..... But of course, I'm the one who should "think before posting" LOL.

I make money all over EVE, when in null sec I adjust for the realities of null sec. In general I adjust for the realities of the game (I generally like to PVE, but I understand that EVE has non-consensual pvp at it's core so i don't get mad when people try to "violence my boat" lol).

Yet this forum is choked FULL of people who, rather than conform their "play style" to the actual realities of the game, try to do things their own way, get slapped in the face by those realities, then come here and moan about it in an attempt to get ccp to change the game so unpleasant things don't happen to them....

EVE is about unpleasant things happening (if your good and smart, those things will happen to others). don't like that, EVE isn't for you.

Clear yet?

I can confirm this whilst not being long in this forum.

There is a serious bitterness amongst so called carebears and this thread proves that. Yeah, this thread is not the intended strike back to "nullbears", it is plain rediculous due to the fact that nullbears do not need strike backs in forums, only ingame (which most here do not want to realize).

lol

But all joking aside, why do people like you cling to something that you have to know is untrue? Even gankers don't really "care about how you play or where you live", they just do what they do because you folks respond with predictable tears. Does it somehow make you chaps/blokes/whatever people are calling other dues these days feel better to think of your opposistiion as evil thugs or something?

I'm asking honestly, because I don't get it, I don't get how people could be so sackless as to find themsvle being bullied IN a VIDEO GAME (where everyone gets Guns, the NRA would LOVE EVE lol)

In a sand box, some people (because they are going to play as they pleas,e like everyone can) are going to play just for the "joy" of bending another person to their will. I understood that when I started playing eve and learned to protect myself from such influence by learning the game mechanics AND teaming up with some hard core medieval mofos with guns, so I haven't been griefed since the "unfortunate Dodixie can flipping incident of '07" (hey, I was new damn it).

In other words, why or some of you so pitiful?

Honestly the same could be said about you...why does it bother you so much that people voice different opinions than you on this matter? Why is it so bad that people play differently than you and have fun doing it?
