technically in a way normal asteroids do dininish, if you gut a belt of all rocks leaving just the marker triangle as evidence then nothing can be mined there untill downtime, and if you mine a belt enough the rocks themselves become diminished to the point that even straight after downtime 1 rock is 1 cycle from 1 hulk beam. Thats hardly an ungodly game shattering amount of ore. It means that the miners, esp unboosted ones spend more time moving around than actually mining. THis is speaking from my own experience of mass mining and building battleships.

A Massive Scordite with less than 1 cycle of ore is hardly massive and massive doesnt even begin to approach infinite
