It has been a long time since incarna was released. In that time Dust has been developed and the core Eve game has been improved upon slightly. And I mean slightly, we are not talking anything that has really added new content or changed the game in any major way, there have just been a series of nice new tweaks like better looking missiles, more intuitive inventory systems.

I was hoping that there would be some major changes in game by now. I still can not walk in a station. I can not fly my ship, I can not get off my ship and explore that deserted space station in my mission.

So what I want to know is should I just give up hope that these things will ever happen? Have the narrow minded complainers saying Eve is and should only ever be about point and click spaceship based interaction won the day forever? Has the original dream of Eve been sided off and hived off into a series of related but separate products like Dust?

Will we ever see the dream of flying your ship into dock then walking out to meet a friend for a beer and card game before getting involved in a shoot out in a lawless area of the station?

Please tell me now so I can put my energies into a game that still aspires to doing these things and does not just follow the narrow minded veiws of a few vocal people.

In short - Where is my walking in stations god damn it!

It's a very long road, things need to be done well before this happens. Adding this kind of content without previously remake coding of core game mechanics and the game it self would only bring in the end a big mess of never ending bugs/fails.

Incarna was, from my point of view, a very important step on this direction but most players keep standing still like stupid in front of the "Door", they can't see more than they have "right now". Introduction of Dust gaming in Eve universe is a huge step on this direction and opening improvement option above everything we can even realise yet.

Think a little bit about, now we have Dust and at some point it's possible so we can interact as characters with them, it' a new vision gaming and social interacting options being offered to the patient and opened minded players, others will simply die cry moan and beg.
Other iterations might be possible with other games to enlarge the community and offer a gaming/social experience beyond everything known at this day or maybe for a couple more decades.

Only patient and opened minded people/players will survive and profit of such an awesome gaming experience in a single universe where common efforts and actions design the universe you play in, all others will stick to instant gratification, no effort, less possible risk poor experience gaming.

Take your pick.

Actually, they did have a working prototype. They were showing it off in like, 2006. It had a CQ, station hallways, a room with your pod in, bars and exotic dangers with animations... They just dropped it, for some reason.

I really want WiS, I've always hated that it got put on hold. I love the changes we're getting now, and a lot of them have been long overdue, but I really want to WiS.

As for whether you should stick around? If that's all you want, I wouldn't bother. I'm lucky in that I love Eve, so I have forever to wait, but alot of people really wont want to stick around without seeing the changes we've been promised since 2006. If it comes to it you can always re-sub when more WiS is introduced. I never thought I would find myself telling someone to quit Eve.

No they didn't have jack in 2006. They had a dated looking engine, exotic dancers not dangers and a bar for dudes to emote each other in, and then they scrapped it, because dudes emoting each other don't really make good gameplay. So now they are trying figure out what gameplay concepts are acceptable. Read the damn devblog again.

You mean the one I asked you to link? And then your replied with a sarcy comment? That one?

Skins will take a lot of bandwidth, so I think this is why we don't do sim eve.

You would have to create a bar seen in every station probably like a kind of lounge bar with a round bar counter and upper lower levels an more then one lounge a station. When you leave you cabin to what lounge you pick you would have to upload your skin and download their skins back for that lounge seen.. its lotta work.
