I'd like to say thank you to you who left his megathron in a wh-system for others to take.
Gotta say scanning for ships and finding out one of them is sitting next to the system star was a bit...odd to say the least ^^
Even if it was a trap, lady luck favours the bold :)

It's a bit overdue but yeah, thanks! :D ur shiny ship found a new home ^^

Most likely, especially if there was no probe launcher fitted, someone ejected and then SD their pod. I've pretty much decided if I ever manage to get myself stuck I will leave my ship behind for someone else.

All well and good until someone finds it and thinks it is better to kill it with a noob ship or mining ship for a lol KM.

Better to just SD the ship

That was my conclusion... it's just that in Eve Online things normally don't come for free o.O
Specially when it has a big sign name with 'it's free!!' sitting next to a star... In EvE that just has trap! written all over it.

I take the following saying when it comes to these matters: Don't look a gift horse in the mouth
If I don't appreciate the small things then it's not worth having big things.

That assumes the person gives a crap about their killboard. I'd find it more interesting to name it so that hopefully someone will contact you. Be fun to see who finds it.

Got a free Zephyr that way once. Apparently their probes expired or they forgot to bring them. The corpse was still on-grid.

Shooting an empty ship gives no kill mail coz that ship belongs to no one.... any one just can take it, if you can fly it.... lol

Actually it does. The ship remains the property of the former owner unless a session change occurs.

I found a ship like that once. I spent AGES scanning adjacent systems and looking for the obvious trap when there wasn't one. Oops

It's a nice feeling when you find one though. The ship that is, not the trapLol

I got stuck with an Orca, trying to collapse a wh (succeed non the less) and got stuck without probes.. the guys in there were friendly enough, so i manage to sold them the Orca (after some severe negotiating) for a good price and a scanning ship with probes on it.. i was back in my rabbit hole in less then 30 mins.

By the way, it's best to self destruct the ship, you get the money on insurance.

Found a marauder like that about 2 years ago. Since I couldnt fly the ship, I told one of my corpies. He decided to keep it for himself. He forgot who controlled the pos he was living in.

So from them on, I decided to kill them no matter what. Unless it is a faction BS, t3 or a ship I know will be worth more than the risk of my implants... Im blowing them up.

Also if it is something I havent killed before... Yeah Ill kill that too.

Didn't you check who the last pilot was before boarding? Then you'd know whom to thank.

I actually left an Armageddon behind like this a couple of months ago. Afterwards I regretted it and checked the killboard often, anxious to see a stupid lossmail. But there never was one, so I guess the finder took the ship instead of blowing it up.

LOL. I think it might have been mine. Not sure if the SD timer was complete before I left the system.

Now we know whom to ask for it when we cycle into you one day :D

Cheers

When I moved out of a C2, I self-destructed a Rorqual to get the base insurance (30%) because I wasn't interested in trying to sell the dang thing.

The next time I bought a Rorqual I took it into a C5. I've since left that system, and I took that Rorqual with me!

Lessons:
1. Self-destruct for the insurance.
2. Capitals in systems you can't get them out of are a write-off.

I've left ghost ship behind before when a hole fold went **** up. Admittedly it was just a Caracal, but it's nice to think she found a new home in another corp.

Back in 2004, someone abandoned an Apocalypse outside of the noob PTS station in Rynndinjorn. I couldn't fly it, so I made a deal with someone who did, got my first BS out of it... an Armageddon.

I found a probe floating in my wh when i came back from dinner. It was named "freeship.tookpodexpr." There were no probes in the launcher, but there were a dozen in the hold.

Anyway, I dropped it off at the closest station and contracted it back to the owner.
