I think the key thing to take away from this post is that Goonswarm members don't know how to make a drone engage hotkey.

I love tht campagne from Goons, though their reasons are totally selfish and ********.

However, I love it, because they might accidentually trigger CCP to change something with Ice mining/Empire mining. We all know, especially Empire Ice Mining is heavily marco-bot invested. I.e. most pods of just ganked macks still sit in the belt for ages after the gank. Because the owner is afk and not just for 1-2 cycles like it is meant to be. I also have seen in Russian 0.0 space Ice mining ops with 10+ macks. Everytime I entered the system, they immdiatly logoffskied, never a straggler. These are all signs, what might be going on and with google you find the programms for it.

So yes, hopefully Goons might change something, though I doubt it. In the end it will be just some dead macks and a bubble of overpriced OI, which will soon burst.

Seems like the best counter is to effectively manage CONCORD. If you can keep them in the belt, there’s not much they can do. There are probably a few ways of going about this.

Goons said it in their post, CONCORD can spawn multiple times in a system with simultaneous aggros. Not sure if this works for more than two spawns but the more the merrier. Several CONCORD spawns in system would make it harder for them to clear the area of CONCORD. Especially if you can get the belts covered, as well as nearby stations. This could be accomplished by ice miners with multiple accounts or working together in corps, utilizing alts to draw agro all at once, then switching back to hulks/macks once CONCORD shows up.

I’m also thinking it wise to keep an alt (out of fleet/corp) on hand in a pod next to the orca while in the belt. The orca can pop-out noob ships that the alt can immediately board and use to re-aggro and get CONCORD back in the belt as soon as its pulled away.

IMO the key to breaking their strategy is to keep CONCORD in belt. You still may be susceptible to gank tempests, but that’s gonna get expensive for them. They seem to be more focused on thorax and brutix anyhow.

At least ice mining will see a little more excitements Blink

Baiting CONCORD in such a manner is considered an exploit by CCP.

Mittani will just bat his eyelashes, and CCP will dismiss the entire thing saying "Oh, you little rascal, you".

that's a load of BS. besides, if it was true, you guys plan to bait CONCORD away from belts for the next e-douche to play. That's gonna mean a lot of exploit petitions on your guys.

just goons being typical cowards.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Bots

Goonswarm has been unfairly characterized as bot-friendly, and we'ds like to counteract that. Basically all ice miners are bots. Report them after you kill them! This way, not only do you kill them, you get them temp-banned!

Why does that sound like a violation of the eula some place or against some rule?

There was slightly more context given after this that helps understand their goal - if they happen to find a bot (by using the characteristics noted in the post) then immediately reporting it is the right thing to do. So not violating EULA, but actually supporting the elimination of botters. They expect to find a lot of botters.

+1 to the Goons for doing SOMETHING that actually may get pilots off their collective duff. Coming right after the Chribba support rally - exciting times!

Incarna - Newest business example of mismanaged capital. CCP - Continuing to gank independent PI producers every day

Typical Goons: so focussed on making ISK they don't think about how they're playing into their enemies strong points.

How could Goons use economic warfare vs the DRF when the DRF already control Technetium and the mineral supply?

I don't think this is about the DRF.

Nah.

This is about mittens being bored from not having enough :drama:, so he accidentally played some EVE instead and (even more accidentally) had some :fun: in the process. Then someone pointed out to him that, on a grander scale, that :fun: could be turned into :drama: and mittens is not the kind of guy to turn that kind of twofer.

Goons and friends will get bored of ganking after a week or so then will go back to ratting and providing free massages (with happy endings) to Mittani in his captains quarters.

You are right. I wasn't suggesting that Goons were smart enough to wage economic warfare against anyone. Now go back and actually read all the words in my post :P

if it kills off botters and bans them for a while if not for good, i say bring it goons, death to all botters !

The rest of you who are not botters and who feel you need to make sure you don't get popped while mining, here's a crazy idea, bring combat support/logistic support/hire mercs to protect you/ HTFU and deal with it.

the way i see it is like this, if the at keyboard pilots protect there ASSets with the above explained HTFU and do something about it, then the only people who will be hurt by this will be the botters.

Standard troll nonsense = 'Trying to do good by being a douchebag' no-one ever believes it.
0.7 system, tanked hulk, maybe lose one, maybe not. Botters could lose a few hulks a day and still turn a profit. 10 mack fleets of bots you say? Mining 23.5/7? No amount of hisec lameness will make a lick of difference to them.

Most of the ice, ore and gas in new eden spawns and is never touched by a laser.

This is nothing but dramaqueenery. Mateeny wouldn't quietly kill bots in 0.0 for the good of the game or to warp the economy, when he could mess with hisec indy types and get the attention he seems so tragically addicted to.

Goggles. Making me look good. Making you look good.

So... the Goons are doing something so there is a shortage of oxygen isotopes from Empire so the Russian RMTing oxygen isotopes in nullsec make a bigger fortune? Is that? Question
