I, for one, was very much anti-CQ and have been enjoying the Door^TM.

After loading SiSi, with the jumping back and forth functionality between ship and CQ, I can honestly say I will actually use the quarters.

Problems so far: There should be a blue arrow to go back into the ship hangar in the way you can leave it... took me a little while to figure out how to leave the CQ. Also, having problems with docking and undocking a couple times, as when I dock again I'm left staring at a star field, with Hangar functionality (drag/drop ships, double-click cargo) and no station panel. Clearing the cache solves this problem, but yea..... annoying to say the least.

Aside from that, I am SOOO happy ship spinning has returned. (or... WILL return.)

agreed, now that i can watch eve tv WHEN i want i might actually do it.

Ok, I'm not much into the whining on this forums, but this truly is the worst game trailer I have ever seen.
I see an animated dude standing in front of a mirror.

Why would I want to control that guy?
If I would control that guy, with a 3rd person view, why would I want to move him in front of a mirror?
I can already see him, I would just see him twice.

Oh, and yay, he can be in 4 different rooms.

Will my checked "don't load station environment" box remain checked with the expansion, or do I have to click it again?

I also play EQ II and there are mirrors in that game, which is mostly played in 3rd person I would guess. Some people just lack the appreciative of the environment gene.

Did you even bother to read the details?

The Caldari, Gallente and Amarr captain's quarters are now available on Singularity, our main test server, and will be live on Tranquility in the next month. The CQ team made this little preview demo video for those of you who don't frequent test servers so everyone could have a peek.

Question for CCP... there have been bugs in the past that get applied to every single client in EVE, and can ONLY be fixed by clearing the cache, i.e. EVERY SINGLE CLIENT needs to clear the cache. 6 months ago (or so) it was the T3-flying-backwards bug. Help chat still sees questions about that, after all this time. Why, when you've supposedly done the QA on the patch and know a bug like this affects every single client, do you not have an auto-clear-cache in the patch?

I really like the look of the new CQ, especially the gallente and Amarr ones.

The cache should clear itself after a while without requiring everything to reload instantly. Yes, some fixes requiring to clear the cache might be annoying, but on the other hand, clearing the cache every patch would be something many wouldn't appreciate either (it's additional download bandwith after all).

Also for those not being able to figure it out (I don't think it's been mentioned here so far): To board your ship without undocking, just click one of the two holo images of the ship being in the station (you don't have to deactivate station environment).

Overall, I really like the new environments, although some feature a too small and too odd placed corporation logo (e.g. the Caldari CQ). I like the new reflection/illumination effects by the CQ screen, although I'm missing some kind of physical and visible hardware on the non-Minmatar CQ screens.

Edit:
Also, did anyone notice the updated FiS effects? It now blends to/from black upon changing system and docking/undocking and the whole transitions for animations and effects feels a lot smoother, e.g. the cloaking effect after warping disappears a lot more smooth for me (without instantly changing texture/transparency some time during the transition).

Yes, I've noticed that too. It's much cleaner.
Also, Gallente NPC Dominixes now have purple engine trails Shocked
On the PI interface you can now see a holograpic customs office orbiting the planet, and there's a "Dust view" button Cool

Oh and we made sure they have lots of lens flares, because as you know, the future is full of lens flares.

Fly safe.

Why the heck would there be tons of lens flare in the CQ? Does everyone undergo eye surgery when leaving their pods? Are we all going to be forced to wear monocles at all times? Shocked

Visual effects just for the sake a visual effects is always a bad idea... I guess I'll need to pop into sisi see how silly it looks.

The first thing I noticed when I undocked in my Apocalypse was shiny new purple engine flares... and every ship I saw or flew which originally had blue engine flares had purple, Maller, Ishkur, Dominix, Thorax, Jaguar.

So, looks like purple is the new blue.

wait people care about CQ?

Not only do some people like CQ, some value WiS the same as they do FiS, just as some value WiS MORE than FiS.

If you value walking in a room so much you can do it pretty well at home without a MMORPG subscription.
