Penalty for failing a mission?

What's the standing penalty for failing a mission, relative to the standing penalty for completing it?

Is the standing loss 20% of what you'd have gained for completion? 10%? 50%? I have in mind a long-term project of stockpiling mining mission ores, so that when I find an NPC corp I want standing with, I'll be able to rapid-complete many of their missions. But that will work more or less well depending on how big the standing loss for non-completion is.

It won't work at all, since for mining missions you have to mine all the rocks that the agent sends you to, regardless of whether or not you already have the rocks in your hangar

What do you mean, exactly?

Stock piling the mission ores is pointless, since the agent will not let you complete any mining mission until you have actually mined all the atseroids in the missions.

In other words, there is no way to blitz mining missions, and they are the only ones that require mission specific ores

How do you know this? Have you tried it, in-game?

In an indirect way, yes, I have tried it in-game.

Returning to a mining mission after downtime (the mission resets at DT) you still have to mine all of the ore before the mission completion flag ticks in, despite the fact that you may already have mined three quarters of the amount required by the agent before DT.

You end up with a pile of useless ore sat in the hangar.
