Closed Sockets - 2 Accounts

Hey, I play with two accounts at once on the same computer... computer has enough RAM and CPU's to run 2 clients just fine. There's no lag causing this problem. I'm not running any bots either.

But when I run two accounts, I get closed sockets regularly. Usually on one client or another. Last night, after it happening a few times, both my sockets closed at the same time on both clients.

I could no longer log-in to Eve, nor would the Tranquility server even give me a server status. I could no longer even get on the eve website.... but my internet was still working just fine.

If I went to a proxy web browser, I could get on that and then view the eve website. I also verified, indirectly that Tranquility was still up and running.

I turned off my router completely, and my DSL modem. Then plugged them back in and the problem persisted for I don't know how long... I just went to bed. When I got up, it was working.

Either:

A) my ISP had decided to block Eve servers (kind of unlikely, because they wouldn't then let me log back on today)
B) Eve servers decided to block my IP

Does running two clients on the same machine cause some kind of packet conflict in the Eve system?

Like, I'm guessing the closed sockets are occurring because of some error, or violation in protocol in my communications with the Eve server... where communications are being confused between the two clients. Maybe the server only allows so many errors to happen before an IP is temporarily blacklisted?

Is anyone aware of this problem and is there a fix?

I may start running my second eve client on another computer and see if that helps at all.

No you are not the only one. CCP gives people loads of advice to try and narrow down the problem but we never actually find out what the problem is. You are not the only one having this problem at the moment.

Just happened to me when I was only running 1 account. Running 2 probably just increases the chances it'll happen, which caused me to notice it more.

No... it's only dropped me once today.

Some people are saying it's making the game unplayable, but if I run one account it maybe happens once or twice a session.

Still, it's an issue for something like pvp where I might be jumping through a gate and i get dropped.

What confused me was the fact that my IP was unable to reach the Eve servers the other night, after being dropped a few times. They were up and running, though, and my internet was working fine.

If it happens where it blocks me from the eve servers again, I'll try that ping plotter... if it doesn't do that, it's kind of pointless because normally I get dropped and then can get right back on again.

I seem to get this problem at very critical times (in a fight titan jumping etc) very anoying. And it doesnt seem to matter if I have 1 or 2 accounts logged in at the same time, just seems to be completley random times

hmm

I have been using ping plotter to get an idea of where there is packet losses which apparently can cause the socket is closed problem. When i have done it there has been packet losses in 3 places. 2 of which were on CCPs final hops of the ping.

I have tried changing which port EVE connects too and i shall see what happens with that.
