Traveling I wonder how often a gate might malfunction. Naturally the mechanics must be regularly maintained. The amount of manpower must be enormous. Have there been any reports of Sansha raiding gates or any associated AI components?

To respond to your questions/statements in turn:

Gate malfunctions occur rarely but with the sheer volume of data passing through them they happen often enough to be memorable. Off the top of my head I can recall two or three in the last four decades alone. There would be numerous others related to the gate's function as both a transport and as a comm routing technology which could be dug up with an appropriate basic search query.

Maintenance is carried out both on-site and remotely. For someone granted technological immortality, you seem curiously ignorant of the way in which other sufficiently advanced technology - drones and remote repair and uplink devices for instance - might help to reduce the man hours necessary for such a task.

As to your last question, no comment except to reiterate that the search function is a wonderful thing.

Each jump gate has a large permanent crew attached to it whos job it is to provide constant servicing and maintenance. These are large highly technical and heavily used structures. The crew basically live on site and the shifts are organised so that a full crew is on hand 24 hours a day.
As such a malfunction is very rare due to the constant and rigorous maintenance schedule.

You'll have to speak up, I'm wearing a towel.

First you ask if the gates fail, then you follow that up with a question if the Sansha steal gate components.

Lemme tell you that with the current bit of tech that Nation holds in their possession stealing a gate would seem like the least of our worries.

There is no such thing as a gate malfunction. All gates do what they are meant to do.

The 'Peralles Incident' says otherwise. As does the Uncontrolled Gate Activation Incident; the one that prompted the Code Aria Inquiry.
