I still have to get the chance to try this out. My last trip to the great wildlands brought me close to a situation, but i got away.

Any suggestions to an alternative phrase, that might work (even once) 'i am [insert something lame], let me be' or 'i drink cheap beer just to be able to afford my ships'

Coming from a shepple type, I don't pay ransoms ever, the reason, if pirates had a reputation for honouring them then yes I'd pay, but as a poster pointed out there are a$$hats in the game posing as pirates that kill you anyway so why bother KEEP SHOOTING SHEEPLETwisted....gonna die anyway.
