What would you do if someone convos you or posts 'i yield' in local ?
Would you shoot him / pod him nevertheless ?

If you are willing to test this, please post your results (so will I).
I am willing to send 1SK to anybody using this tactic (and surviving).

Ransom is the way to go if there is lots of time. I offer them and honor them when possible.

Other than that... I kill them.
I have however,
Scooped thier loot and returned it to them,
Scooped thier loot and delivered it to an agents destination,
Bought them a new badger,
Sent them full replacement value for various ships.
etc.

Because sometimes it's clear as day, that the dude couldn't afford the loss. I'm not into just ruining some guy's (specificly a newb)game over lols. When I catch a 1 month old character in a Drake in low sec, and see some of the awful fits, or whatever. Sometimes they don't even shoot back.
I don't beat up old ladies, little kids, or kick dogs either :)

In combat, I don't look at local chat and I don't accept convos. Especially not from hostiles. If I am shooting someone, I have a good reason to want them dead.

I have a ransom channel setup and the MOTD has instructions to my victim on what to do.

I however generally forget to even offer ransoms.......too busy grinning while firing usually.

But if I do remember anf offer one then I will always honor it.

The best I've gotten is: 'What the **** are you doing?'
'stop'
'please stop'
'the orca!'
'stop now unless you want to buy me a new ship'
'no! you ****'
'you can buy me a new orca now you prick'

You mean because every kill you've ever been on has 100 other guys on it and that nothing you ever do as a single pilot really matters?

I think the question was directed towards pirates, not sheeple.

"I yield" is a bit silly...
He isn't shooting at you to beat you, or show you he is better...

He's shooting you to blow you up and take your stuff...
Yielding just lets him know that he doesn't need to keep running his reps cause you've given up.

If the target is in a BC or above then I try to think and ransom them if it's obvious that they will die anyway.

Generally a ransom will be more that the module drops.

However if i think they deadspace/faction fitted then I may just pop them without a ransom.

TBH it's very situational at the point of ransom.

Generally speaking I let people go if they pay me if they're a coincidental target, like they aren't someone I'm specifically out to blow up for some reason and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If I'm specifically trying to kill them or inflict damage to their corporation though, they're pretty screwed.

yielding or not wont make any difference unless you are willing to buy your way out also.

As other posters have stated it is very dependent on circumstances. Pirates who offer ransoms which you pay and they kill you anyway are by definition asshats.

IF I offer a ransom it is usually because I believe the character can afford to pay.

I will always honour a ransom offer made, but you stop any aggressive action on me, pay fast and then get the hell out of the system.

I once ransomed the same guy twice in one night, he was running a site in a Tengu in a lowsec system. He made the mistake of coming back to the site ten minutes after I first ransomed him!

He was not happy but paid up both times - even thought the second time I doubled the ransom to 500 million, I was sorely tempted to pop him anyway to see what he had fitted but if you offer a ransom you should honour it. Pirate

I found a non-fw guy in a gallente plex killing the rats in his drake. I burnt over 60-70km but he just stayed there.

Just as i landed scram he asked in local if i could help him kill the rats lol. I started to burn him down only to take pitty and stop shooting as he was going into low shields though i kept scram on just to decide what to do with him. Didnt have much time as rats pretty much alphad though his armour and structure lol. I felt quite bad.

As for ransoms, i ask what their pod is worth and if they say any decent figure i apologise for their loss and pod them.
