Happening to me to, I'm in the UK on BT with FTTC connection.

Get told the socket has closed and have to restart, sometimes I get back in others it takes ages to get back on. Also there are times the client will not close and i have to Ctrl-Alt-Del and close it from the win task manager.

Have reset my router and fiber modem and still getting the issue.

It would be nice to have a reply from a Dev or someone like that with regards to this issue as it's been happening to me for 4 days now.

I have just been on the phone to BT-technical services for ages. They have run several tests on my line and are saying that it is all fine and in working order. Also the guy was unaware of "stolen" cables. Shocked So well... don't know what now...

OVER TO YOU CCP :)

I have had this issue for a few days.
Last night the connection dropped with "socket closed" message.

Today the launcher is failing to loadup. I just got a box with a white background and exception error:
" No connection could be made to the contect server. Please make sure your internet connection is up and restart the launcher".

I ofcouse had a good BT Infinity connection.
Second attempt failed again with an exception error suggesting I restart the launcher or run the repair Tool.
Amongst the script in the main window was the lines :

message = 'enabled'
port = 81
settings =
threshold = 35
Frame GetRemoteBuildNumber in lib\update.pyc at line 1097:
err = URLError("[Errno 10060] A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond: 'http://client.eveonline.com/patches/premium_patchinfoTQ_inc.txt'",)

So I ran the Repair Tool which failed with a message :

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "repair.py", line 372, in
File "updateSelf.pyc", line 85, in UpdateSelf_nt
File "updateSelf.pyc", line 15, in ReadUpdateInfo
File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 234, in GetRepairInfo
File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 146, in SafeUrlOpen
urllib2.URLError:

So no Eve tonight, forums are also slow but all other intenet is fine.

Same problem here socket closed repeatedly for me the last 3 days completely unable to login now and launcher will not connect i've never experienced this in the 7 years i've been playing EVE i've never had this problem until magically the same time as everyone else.

Using BT infinity but EVERYTHING is running perfectly as normal including every other game my internet speed is also exactly as normal just not eve online or the eve online website... everything else on the internet is completely fine CCP please atleast reply saying that you're trying to fix this problem i've also had UK alliance mates on different internet providers having the same problem at the exact same time as me, so this does seem to be a problem at CCP's end but it's starting to get very frustrating... have reset everything multiple times cleared caches restarted computer the only thing that is not working is EVE online.

CCP do something... or atleast reply saying you're trying to fix this problem because it has only gotten worse

P.S the wire theft someone was talking about only effected a small village in Essex and that was a week ago so no this is completely unrelated + people with other internet providers have said they are experiencing the same problem.

I'm sorry, but who outside CCP's network team would be able to use this data to anything useful?

I'd make a guess that few outside them have any good idea on how their network connections works (I'll make a another random guess, they have more that one link).

TL:DR
If you have a connection issue, record a trail and send it to CCP.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Seen some ranting on the BT forums on disconnections to EA servers.
Looks like there is cable damage (theft) affecting multiple areas in th U.K.....

Been suffering from the socket issue myself.
Long skill if you can get on and hold tight, maybe even venture outside.

Yep just read the service status and that looks like the issue, need to get a long skill training if I can sneak on for a few minutes.

Let's have a random guess.

They have a limited crew to get their op center working 24/7 (erh, 23.5/7).

The chance that they have anyone actually on queue to answer to a j.random outage from j.random site at anytime is slim.

As a matter of fact, if it's a minor drop at some isp, who cares.

If it's a serious drop of a major peer, do you want them try to solve the problem or answer questions on the web?

Since they have the volunteers that pop up in here, those lovely people with ISD in there name to do that and let the the actual engineers work on the issue it's not that much of an ask. But we've not even had a peep out of them, and that is bad customer service when people that have paid for a service can't use it and aren't told why.

Bit like being on a delayed flight, lol.

Hi,

Just to let you know, I've raised a petition with the connectivity team and asked if they'd mind double checking and posting a reply here.

They are aware that some people are having problems, but there's no indication of where the problem is, at the moment.

Hope everyone manages to get back in the game as soon as possible.

Thanks.
