That's largely dependent on the mass and speed of both objects involved. People hit deer all the time up here and usually fenders get pretty messed up, but we're driving little plastic cars that can weigh almost as little as the animal we're hitting. There you are talking about an 11 ton truck hauling anywhere from from 15 tons to 35 tons doing upwards to 65mph mostly likely hitting a stationary target with a massive composite bumper.

Not to say that these guys can't take damage though. One of my first jobs was cleaning bays at the local Peterbilt shop and they pulled in one rig that had severe damage on the grill and fender, and its sleeper peeled open on the driver side like a can of sardines. Seems a moose decided to play chicken.


I love that last comment: Still no word on how the cow's doing, though.

Cows are mostly full of partially digested "grass" in every single one of their "four" stomachs which is simply a big one, so big it needs 4 strata of definitions. Hence blood and crap everywhere.

If you keep in mind cows chew , regurgitate and chew again the "grass" over and over up to 50 or 60 times well, yes, Cows are full of crap. Thats why you eat them, all that chewing brings a lot of meat for us hungry hooomans. Big smile
