Capital Jumping as mini-portal

It seems to me that giant spaceships like capital ships, when they jump, would leave a kind of 'wake' in the form of a residual portal to the destination.

The meat of this effect is that small ships -- like frigates -- would be able to slip through the portal before it collapses.. If they could get in there within 3 or 4 seconds of the capital ship jumping, that is.

Of course, since its not really 'supposed' to be used that way, there'd be a chance of the little guy emerging where the capital ship landed, or somewhere else in system, or in some other system relatively nearby.

Other possible effects are levels of damage to the smaller tag-along ship, sterilization of the pod pilot, etc. :)

Nobody loves you.

Oh and Cthulu No! on this idea.

Starting with why would you ever want to, moving on to what would this contribute, then introducing a physics nerd to point out the miniscule amount of volume occupied by solar systems compared to the universe as a whole.

I'll support it if the tag along gets dumped somewhere randomly along the linear jump path IE 99.999999999% chance of being dumped in the far void and being forced to self destruct the pod since standard warp would take months to the nearest solar system.

Follow that up with a 95% initial chance of having your ship and pod torn apart by the twisting space envelope of the jumping capital and I'd upvote it.

Or hey, we could ask them to work on something people would prefer to see, like a CCP yodeling contest, or smiley faces painted on the heads of our missiles.

So, you're saying that any capital ship should be able to bridge fleets?

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

No I'm talking about adding a bit or random flair to the game.

For what purpose? What problem does this address?

Hell, why do we even need this?

Adding things "because it's cool" is bad and leads to titans with grid-smashing AOE doomsdays and mineral markets flooded by drone goo.

Yes, adding "cool" content is just wrong.

All new content should only address problems with previous content.
