Until they add in real projectile physics there is no point to being able to twitch the controls.

Maneuverability is only critical if you can dodge incoming fire and hide behind things bigger than you.

As it is now you do need to manually pilot your ship in small hull size pvp but not nearly enough to warrant wasd controls. (you can derp and hit 'Orbit' but that will most likely get you killed)

A camera drone inside the ship interior. Be it the engine room to check and fix critical damage or the bridge. But I admit it will never happen. We now know we will never see anything beyond our CQs.

Ships have crews for a reason, if you end up in a situation where you have to fix something yourself (and I'm not talking about pressing the "fix this now" button) you have far more serious things to worry about.

where are you getting the pod full of goo from Id like to read that. just looks like an escape pod to me in station.

Pods are Jove (also here) based tech with which we link our clones (also here) to our ships.

There are a large number of Chronicles, stories, and scientific articles that explain the goings on in EVE.

Happy Hunting and Pod Speed!

Edit: I also found some old images from CCP showing ship crew compliments.

It would be nice if CCP would re-release or update this info.

"Just an expansion"

You are literally talking about completely rebuilding EVE from the ground up. All those years of work, started completely over. That would take the bigger part of a decade.

Its pretty clear you don't understand the mechanics of what is going on here.

Everyone keeps saying rebuild the hole game start over. You can add code you can make changes a game can do both things point and click and WASD. EVE allready does it in station I just want it in space. And as far as game lore that can change to. The game lore is only a mater of convenience to explain what you saw in the game when it came out. That was a while ago and It can be done now.

Ok.

First, this game is three dimensional. WASD doesn't cut it.

Second, this game has a very slow server heartbeat. This means completely redesigning the netcode.

Third, the game's mechanics and balance are built around cycling modules and automated movement. You're talking about a ground up redesign of the entirety of the code now.

Seriously, you're talking about building an entirely new game. Nothing would be the same except the art assets. The fact that you don't understand this pretty clearly shows your lack of understanding of how computers work.

To explain why this isn't going to happen, let me give you a real world analogy.

Lets say I wanted my car to have 4-wheel steering and independantly driven/steered wheels.

You're suggesting you just need to tweak the steering wheel slightly and ignoring the fact you need to completly redesign the entire drive and steering system. Especially when the old system is still fit for purpose and functional.

-What about the 1 second server tick? It's impossible to 'twich' pilot like you want when the game only accepts input and changes your vector every second. And it can't just be sped up. Even with the current tick there are fights in null-sec where the server has to slow events down by a factor of 10 (10% time dilation) just to keep up. Imagine what happens when the server has to work even harder. How would you solve this (other than "Buy new hardware" which would simply bankrupt CCP if they didn't get a HUGE flood of new players in immediatly and retain them for a long period?

-And how would you implement control. WASD is fine in 2D games but eve is 3D. If you are relying on a fixed forward facing camera as a reference point then how do you plan to see your enemy? And if you're not using a fixed camera then how do you steer your ship?

-And a lot of ships aren't as fast as fighters in other games. Anything larger than a destroyer (sometimes not even that) will see little benefit from this so do you plan on rebalancing every ship in the game (and this has to be done in one big lump to prevent ships being OP) so they are maneuverable enough to get any benefit from this? How long has it taken just to do cruisers and below?

If you have soloutions to these questions then feel free to share but to me it just seems like a practical impossibility. That first one is the biggest and trickiest problem to solve with the brute force processing power method.

So nice thought but it seems like you're ignoring everything under the bonnet.

It explains everything about the story reasons for game's interface that you could possibly want.

including the mention of the goo filled pods and the camera drone outside of the ship
