EVE hangs on startup on my laptop

Hi folks,

I'm trying to get my laptop to run eve, as far as I can see it has downloaded and installed fine. The launcher works just fine, I start it, it checks patches and applies them if necessary. Then I click the 'PLAY' button.

This is where nothing really happens. I get the tab on my startbar to show an active program, but that's all that happens, I can't switch to it and the only way to close it is to use the Task Manager.

I ran the CCP Log Server, and it seems to hang and give the following message:
"Trinity is using the regular device"
This will continue for atleast 5 minutes (which is when I turned it off).

This laptop used to play EVE just fine.

Any help would be appreciated.
