A major function and feature of Eve Online is the killmail, tracked by third party applications called: killboards. The most popular of which being- Eve-kill due to it's functions, features, ease of accessability, readability and other various customizations.

Lately they have been experiencing many issues, most hardware related and as such- and have launched a donation drive referenced here http://themittani.com/news/eve-kill-launches-fundraiser

The amount of money they need to upgrade their hardware would be a drop in a bucket for a successful internet spaceship conglomerate like CCP hf. I think it's a tremendous community outreach opportunity as well.

Help out Eve-kill please, they are down again at the time of this post Cry

Hardware issues? Don't tell me they fell into the raid as a backup trap.

This thread is evidence of the need for some sort of legitimate CCP PVP ladder or KB or something.

Nah, their backup had failed a couple of weeks before.

The issue was one of their drives failed, and the raid acted up, so they went down.

sounds like they were probably using RAID 5 or 6. they really should have been using something like RAID 1. allows you to lose all but one of your drives and keep running. and since it's largely read operations, they would actually get a significant speed boost from running RAID 1.

Personally I would like to see killmails dropped. What people don't know will kill them.
