I would take you up on that offer in a new york minute, except I see that you run in Caldari space and I'm all about the Gallente, I guess that makes us space enemies or something. P

Its not space bullsnot, it's the other aspect of finding a suitable corp thats a butch, even if you manage to find one with good people who you can trust and don't make you jump through a dozen hoops, theirs the matter of who they grind standing with, what kind of ships they fly, what faction space they operate in, stuff like that.

I swear, finding the right corp to join in this game is like trying to find the right woman to date. Straight

I applied there a few days ago. My app was rejected within 15 minutes. No idea why.I guess even THEY require some sort of complicated application process. If so then I'm not interested. I just want to play dude. I don't friggin feel like registering at some forum, waiting 1 week for a response waiting 2-3 months for an interview, etc.

I just. Want. To play.

Hi,
Did you apply to red or blue ? if rejected you should have received a mail for why ( please turn charges off ) . IF it was due to you toon being under 7 days that rule as changed so feel free to reapply.

Please note , we don't teach so much as we will point you in the right direction and smile when you get yourself blown to pieces. If you do join us make sure you join the noobfleet (instructions will be in your welcome mail.).

I believe it was Blue. I've since deleted it but I do not recall a reason being given. I'll reapply. TY for the response.

If you don't have the rigorous security protocols that every alliance puts their new members through, then you get a few bad apples like me. I'll hold members hostage, gank mining ships, and generally cause terror and mayhem just for the lulz.

It's moot because you can be a "good apple" to get in and become a "bad apple" once you're there.

Stopping awox/spais was a problem once before but not anymore. You can be made red/neut at the touch of a button now. Half of the security was because of the free flying corp member drop issues.

It's all good...I'll just bide my time, train up and form my own corp eventually. Then I'll form an Alliance and show these folks how it's done. This community needs a massive overhaul. All of this "Clique-ishness" is destroying the game. Elitists destroyed WoW. It was the same way there. New players would hit a brick wall in regards to end game content because the big Guilds would only allow people with the best gear and connections...it was a brutal cycle because you couldn't get good gear alone or in PuGs.

How exactly do these application processes stop determined spies? They don't. You make me wait 6 months, if I'm determined to spy and get in I'll do what it takes to get in. I'm convinced it's not about spies, it's about Elitism. Goons and Test don't want you unless you've got seven digits in SP and lots of isk. They just use spies as an excuse. Which is fine, as I said, they certainly have a right to shoot themselves in the foot. I'm just tired of the big engagements/wars being exclusive to these people. It'sBS and I think CCP should do more to encourage smaller Alliances. If you look at the Sov map it's a few big blobs and a few small ones. That's not good for the game. Imagine if Alliances could only let in 5 corps. Sure people could form "coalitions" but it would still be a big step in breaking up this clique crap and opening up "end game" for more people, thus improving the game for everyone in the end.

Alliance aren't meant to be "player friendly"... Corps are. Alliances are where people with too much time on their hands and egos to match try to corral a metric crap-ton of players to do their bidding.

This entire statement is wrong.

Well take Test for instance....I got mail from someone today telling me I have to be on a forum for 3 months before I can even apply....how the hell does that prevent spying? And what does it have t do with Eve?

The honest answer is "You'd be surprised". Bear in mind that in any community 95% of the population is made up of 'tards. Even with Goonswarms very CLEAR guidelines of "You must be a member since this date, you need about this many posts in our forums" people **** it up all the time. In fact the number of idiot screwups to successful attempts to join has our Auth director contemplating suicide nightly.

But really the Goon view on spies is that they happen. We're probably riddled with them. Most of our efforts to "Spycatch" are done post join. Our requirements are mainly because we want you to be a member of our community. We want you to mesh with us. We want you to understand our sense of humor and where we come from. Despite outward appearances Goons are actually the most reserved in our little powerbloc. We act the way we do externally because it gets over-serious video game nerds frothing mad. And that's pretty funny honestly.

I already have limited playing time as is (as do most working adults), so not only will I have to be active in game, but I also have to be active on some forum for 3 months??? I mean is this a game, or am I applying for a Government job?

It's not that hard. Three months is give or take 90 days. If you can't muster up enough effort to post a quick reply to two threads a day, I'm frankly shocked that you can muster up enough effort to wipe your arse after taking a crap. I can't speak for reddit because I'm not a member: But members of the SomethingAwful forums post some damn interesting threads, some that I've been following for years.

We have an entire subforum for asking legal advice from goon lawyers and butte advice from goon doctors. Most people just join for the coupons and deals subforum though. Hell I get most of my "Posting chops" from the "Serious Hardware/Software" Systems/Network admin discussion threads where we talk about storage arrays and other nerd stuff.

It just seems like Alliances are very clickish and seek to exclude new players which really only hurts the entire community in the end. We new players already have to spend time studying to learn the game (which I do. I DL E-Uni lectures and listen to them while I drive, I'm a trucker). These Alliances are now adding MORE crap that we have to do? If they're worried about spies, why don't they just create a newbie corp within their Alliance and have a probationary period? It allows us to get in on the action without getting sensitive information. I just find it odd that players make it even MORE difficult for new players to get into the game. No one wants to play alone. The small corps aren't active and the big ones make you jump through hoops to join, some even requiring insane SP levels, then calling themselves newb friendly (how is requiring 5 mill SP newb friendly???). This is why so many try the game and after 1 week leave. I've done this before myself. EvE is boring to play alone. The newb likes the game but if he can't find others to play with, he'll just leave and the community will remain stagnant. Veterans should be encouraging growth not stunting it with Elitist practices. They have a right to do what they want, just my 2 cents.

Alliances ARE cliquish and that's the way it should be. You should want to join people that share your interests, sense of humor and the like. Cliques don't mean identical, but you should share commonalities somewhere.

Also 5 million SP is still a newb.
