Running out of time for finding Plagioclase.

I have only an hr left in the mission. I understand, there should be plenty in my current area. I'm in Gallente space. I am not sure about travel to other systems, yet.

The list of belts in my current space, have none show up on the overview. I set the overview to include this, but I am having trouble finding any.

What is the sec status of the system? You need to be in .9 or lower, if all else fails try the market.

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

I have no idea where to check for the sec. I am in the station you start the game in. I guess I will just buy some.

I've found this to be useful in the past:

Ore Grid

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Thank you very much. I will put that to use for future refs.

I'm afraid if the info I got earlier in the mission, about my current area being common, is false...I need to explore other regions before taking on any more missions.

Plagioclast is extremely common in Gallente space, it's found in every system of security 0.8 and below (or is it 0.9?)

The security is shown in the top left of your screen, you'll see something like Dodixie 0.9. System name Dodixie, security 0.9.

If you're doing the career agents, probably best to finish all of them before you strike out on your own. They teach you a fair bit.

Sec level is shown alongside the system name at top left corner of your screen. Judging from your corp you must be in Clellinon, which is 0.8 sec.

What mission is asking you for Plagioclase? Two of my characters have run tutorial missions in that system but I don't remember ever being asked for Plagioclase.

I understood it to be common, but I can't find the first rock of it.Lol

I am trying to finish all of the tut missions for the carrier chains, before venturing...anywhere.

EDIT : ^^^

The mission is Mountains / Molehills - 6/10. That ore is need it refine the Mex...something for the blueprint material list.

It also called for a mineral in Scordite. I found that stuff in every belt. But I had to actually target it for the first time before it would show up in the overview.

Someone suggested setting the overview for the Plagio, but I guess you must physically find it for the first time.

create a new tab on your overview (right click on the tabs bar on your overview. add tab). go to it. right click on the 4 lines in the top left of the overview window. go to 'load default' then select 'mining'.

That'll make things a trifle easier on you.

Just buy the minerals from the market. You don't need much and it's far faster. I think there's also a mission later where you need a mineral that's found mostly in lowsec.

You guys / gals are great. Steve hooked me up with ...Luse III Ast Belt 1. That is the Plagio gold mine. I had my overview preset for Plagoio, before going in and the board lit up upon arrival. That laid to rest the myth about locating before being able to add to the overview.

Thanks to everyone for the support. I may just be able to get into this after all.

I think you're expected to buy any minerals you don't already have, rather than mine and refine them.

Another method would be to reprocess any surplus loot items you might have lying around.

I think you might have a good point. I just assumed that this entire tut was focused on mining, but it comes down to being resourceful. Be that form mining or buying the minerals..or even the final product.

Still, it has been a very learned experience this morning. That single mission has taught me more that any of the others so far.

Q -
Now...what about venturing into an 0.2 sec area for mining some other material I need?
Is this something a 2nd day noob should risk?
How much aggression should one expect?

I have a Destroyer fitted with (3) 75mm Gat Rail 1 - Small Arm Repair 1 - Civil Afterburner - Civil Shield Booster. EDIT : Oh..and a Civil Drone.
Is it too early to risk it?

Well not all .2's are the same, some are real bad, some are not so good, some not so bad, some are dull. As to risking it for mining, I would say no. Your call on that, getting popped is a real possiblity down in low sec. Big smile And with your current skill set, you will be easy pickings for the pirites that make Low sec their home. But at the same time, your only risk at this point is your ship, since you will not lose skill points right now on being podded. I would wait until you can use a decently fitted cruiser before going down low.

At this point in your career your best defense in low security space is avoiding encounters. You can try to go there but you need to expect to have your ship destroyed. If you are lucky and no one is around to catch you you could make some nice money.

Experienced characters will be able to sneak up on you or catch you at the gate so try it if you want but dont get cocky and run away before they are on top of you.

RE: your ship... it may be better for you to get back in a frigate and its associated align time.

You might be ignored, you might be scanned down by someone looking for a fight, or you might wander into a gate camp. You can often avoid camps by looking at the star map for counts of ships and pods destroyed. Unless you're outfitted for PVP and looking for a fight yourself, your best strategy is avoidance and a willingness to run to safety whenever you see a combat probe on dscan.

Lowsec ores often spawn in gravitometric exploration sites in highsec. So that's a potential alternative if you feel more comfortable scanning down grav sites than playing hounds and hares.
