DED Complex questions.

I've been flying level 4 missions in a Drake for a while and was looking for something new to occupy my time and thought I would try DED complexes. I also thought that this is where I can get some decent module to upgrade my ships.

I'm a little confused about DED complex sites. It seems that some require a minimum standing to work with an agent before going to the complex. Some you just show up and kill stuff until you get bored.

I looked around for a DED 4 site since I have a battlecruiser. The first one I found, 17 jumps from where I was running level 4s, was empty. There were floating buildings arranged nice and pretty but nothing to kill. I went to two more and was told by an agent that my 0.0 standing wasn't high enough. Another one I arrived and just starting killing the bad guys but there wasn't much to loot.

I've looked around in the forums and online but find little information.

Any help or useful links are appreciated.

Thanks,
Hapalo

I think you're entering DED complexes that are involved in COSMOS missions. The ones you want to find are exploration complexes, which you find using probes. Here is a useful page to get you started.

No standing is required. However, it should be noted that the search for 4/10's is highly competitive, and you're not guaranteed to get fancy loot when you do find one. You'll get the odd jackpot, but your isk/hr will generally be better if you are efficiently running level 4 missions. If you're just looking for fancy mods, you will achieve results much faster by grinding missions and just buying what you want on contracts.

That said, it is my opinion that exploring is much more fun than missioning, and I wish you luck o7

Lots o' info

I'm going to assume you're taking about the static sites. I haven't messed around with those much myself, only the skeleton comet in Deltole.

Most DED sites are found via exploration with probes (d-scanner won't see them). You can sometimes receive an escalation from other combat sites leading to a DED plex. The location for that will appear in your journal under 'expeditions'.

Look through/search this forum section a bit more for some exploring info, or just try different words in your interweb searches.

Thank you both for the information. It was very helpful.

I was able to find two drone infestations and an omber field near me. I would like to find something a little more difficult to work with. Is there a list of cosmic anomalies? I've done some checking online but have found very little.

Thanks again,

Here's a thread with some information

Thanks Kilrayn.

I had already found that thread and it was useful. I have read through the various likes to the evewiki pages and they were helpful but I think I'm still missing something. Do I need to be in low sec space for the better finds? I moved to a nearby system and found an unstable wormhole to another area of the known universe. I also found a Guristas Refuge and two Guristas HIdeaways. I checked them out and killed a few easy drones.

Sorry for being a pest. I'm just trying to do something different besides grinding level 4 missions.

Exploration is hit and miss. You can go days without finding anything good, then get several hundred mil in just one, even in high sec. But yes, you will find more valuable sites in low/null.

Also based on 'I moved to a nearby system' I'm guessing you may be sticking around a single system, probably your mission hub. That's not going to work well for exploration. You've got to hit as many systems as you can (and if you can stick with a single region, that's ideal). If you haven't seen it yet, look for St Mio's deep space probe guide. it'l help you be more selective with what you scan down once you get the hang of it.
