Note that the way the bots were programmed to seem more human was to make mistakes and bear a grudge.

If such bots made it to EVE Online, they would be making mistakes just like real people. At what point do you draw the line between "a really boring person who has nothing better to do than fly logistics all weekend" versus "a very interesting bot"? It's one thing to state that "automation of gameplay ist verboten", but another thing entirely to say, "this bot ruins the game for other players."

At what point do you have to step back from the game and realise that you are just spending time participating in a science fiction virtual world, and that what really matters is how much you enjoy the experience, not how fairly and impersonally the rules are enforced?

I am waiting for the following useful bots to appear:

The scam bot- Attempts to continuously sell invaluable items for Plex in local.

The troll bot- Continuously trolls in local by taking the previous posters name and inserting it into a post with "is lamesauce".

The instigator bot- Continuously posts in local "1v1 frigate anyone?"

The lottery bot- Posts every 5 seconds in local about the fabulous riches that can be won playing one of the many lotteries.

Or maybe these bots already exist?

Interesting these bots were competing with humans using the unreal game engine... the same one that drives DUST.

Signatures should be used responsibly...

read until "Each player also has a "judging gun" in addition to its usual complement of weapons."

i just hope the article misrepresented this because that sure sounds like a ****** way of evaluating

also, you can make any fps bot look like a human, just make him do stuff that makes no point, like jumping all the time or stopping randomly without a reason :p

Interesting article, thanks for the heads up!

I would say ... yes he can catch this, because this is EVE, not Unreal Tournament Pirate

The logs would show the WSAD keys being spammed!

OMG , the logs show something? OH MY GOD , what a day that would be Shocked

We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.
