What's the typical standing gain for a level X mission?

I've flown a couple of level 3 mining missons, and it seems as if I gain +0.04 standing to the corp, per mission.

Is that typical for level 3 mining missions? How much faster is standing gain for level 4 mining missions?

Is standing gain per mission higher for Security/combat missons?

I want to earn "perfect" refine in 2 different NPC corps, for industrial reasons (I already have perfect refine for Caldari Navy corp, but I need it for more corps), and if we ignore Connections skill bonus and assume I start at standing 0.00 and want to increase to 6.70, at 0.03 standing per mission, that's about 223 missions I have to fly.

So obviously I'm interested in knowing more about the pace of standing increase.

You don't have to fly 223 missions, since every 16 missions you'll get a storyline mission which will grant you more standing.
I don't know the equation behind the standing increase, but I just wanted to say that your formula is missing the storyline part.

If you’re counting on counting the story line missions to increase you standing, make sure that the nearest story line agent is the same corporation as the corporation you’re running for. Also, be aware that as you gain standing, your standing gains will be lessened with each mission.

Train your social skills, e.g., Social and Connections.

This. If you can get storylines for the same corp you're in good shape. Single boosts can be more like 25% than 4%.

Also a very good point. Using Salapd's example, it would take not 223 missions at 3% increases, but actually 370 due to the diminishing returns. Remember, your standings modify the difference between your current standings and 10, not your absolute standings.

To get your actual % increase, dive into your character sheet, go to standings, and right click on the corp in question. Select "show transactions". That will list the increases.

L3 security mission standings gain ranges from 0.2-3.0% per mission.

Assuming a you start from zero AND you also do the same corp's storyline mission, you're looking at roughly 50 missions or around 3-4 storyline sets to get perfect refine standings. Be aware that it does vary, if you're lucky, you might a few 14% bump from good storylines that will shorten it quite a bit. Use an alt to complete those missions if the character taking the missions has no combat skills. Clunky, but still better than distribution/mining mission imo.

Edit: Another thing, certain Amarr agents are a !@#$@#% when it comes to L3 security missions. You waste literally hours and hours declining faction missions that screw your standings with Gallente/Minmatar. It gets so bad at one point that I'd almost consider a bug report/petition.

I've got Connections and Social to 4, and am working on training them to 5.

As for the Storyline thing, it turns out my first storyline mission this year was for the same corp I fly the level 3 mining missions for. So unless there are one or more other Storyline agents within the exact same distance, but for different corps, I'll probably be good to go, as far as level 3 missions are concerned.

But what when I step up to level 4 missions? How difficult is it to find a mining mission agent, for one corp, that is guaranteed to give me storyline agent missions for the same corp?

As a data point, with Connections trained to 4, and Social at 4 during the process, I've done 4x16 level 3 mining mission cycles for the NPC corp, and 4 storyline missions for their agent (luckily all for the corp I wanted standing with), and that has raised my standing from 0.00 to something like 6.2.

The refining tax is now about 0.4%. I expect it will drop even lower once I've trained Connections to 5, perhaps even to perfect refine. I have another standing I want to boost up first, so I'm not even sure I'll bother to do a cycle of level 4 missions.

I think with Connections trained to 5, it'll probably be possible to access a level 4 mining agent after 3x16 mission cycles (i.e. to have standing 5.00 including the Connections bonus), and that if one starts the process with both Social and Connections at 5, it's probably doable to do 1x16 level 2 cycles, 2x16 level 3 cycles and 1x16 level 4 cycles (3 level 3 cycles if level 2 missions can be skippe dentirely due to faction standing) and then reach perfect refine., if all the storyline missions trigger for a storyline agent for the same corp (which as I understand it is a jump distance issue).

But even if not, you'll still get pretty close to perfect refine with 4 mission cycles, so my guess if you want jump clone access (which I don't need, since I already have 8.00+ with Caldari Navy, earned years ago when I flew hundreds of level 3 missions and scores of level 4 missions) it can probably be done in 6 mission cycles, with at least the last 2 cycles, preferably the last 3, being level 4 missions.

(Note that level 4 mining missions are trickier, because you sometimes have to mine gas, which can't be done in a Barge or Exhumer. You also sometimes have to mine ice, but that's trivial as far as I know.)

More data points:

As for the Connections bonus, with the skill at 4, it raises my standings with the corp in question from 5.44 to 6.17, so a raise of about 0.18 at this skill level. So I'm expecting to hit 6.35 when Connections is trained to 5. No perfect refine, then, but a very, very low tax.

(This is in contrast to the +0.40 bonus per level when one's standing is close to 0.00 but positive, and makes sense that the effect is a bit less than half, when standing is raised to a bit higher than halfway to its absolute maximum possible value, either 9.99 or 10.00.)

At 6.17 my exact refining "tax" is 0.39%.
