Stop the 'modernization' of Minmatar hulls!

The current Tempest is beautiful **** you.

I fell in love with the concept of cheaply thrown together spaceships. The Tempest? That piece of **** looks like some Matar engineers in a hurry, had to cut off a piece of an equally ugly station and stick some guns on it because there was no time for design. And it's perfect. The Stabber seems like the entire core was centered off a structure pillar and I'm fine with that.

Why is everyone obsessed with making Minmatars look more futuristic akin to the Amarr or Gallente? The Minmatar is supposed to be the least advanced. The look rugged scrap look goes well with it.

The Maelstrom is the most ugliest ship I've ever seen for the Minmatar.Evil

I agree with everything above, except Rupture is the most ugliest Minmatar ship I've ever seen. Keep Minmatar ugly! Everybody knows Min technology is going backwards, not forwards.

I don't usually argue in terms of taste and aesthetic opinions.

However, I have realized that Minmatar hulls are NOT SUBJECTIVE. Compare this, which is FUGLY under any light:

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS0s_88UIU8Qcui6TTV7He67zB469OhwSrZwNDcJK_2SeDIF6QZVdt5UeMn

With this, which is pure and concentrated win:

http://content.eveonline.com/www/newssystem/media/63391/1/stabber_s.jpg

And you will conclude two things:

-You CAN indeed modernize the Minmatar and at the same time keeping their distinct and unique looks.
-You are utterly and terribly wrong. Yes, I know you can't be wrong in your favourite looks for something. But STILL, you are wrong.

EDIT: Fixed that for you Big smile - ISD Type40.

Yeah, I quite look the remodels of the Matari hulls, they still look cobbled together, just more solidly so.

Sorry man but the rustbucket least advanced argument doesn't really work anymore. Its been generations since the Minmatar rebellion, a time when ships were crudely made and primitive due to resource shortages and lack of skilled personel, that time has long since passed, and the Sebiestor are supposed to be some of the greatest engineers in the cluster, isn't it about time Minmatar ships began to reflect that?

Also roleplay reasons aside, all those antennae sticking off the old hulls alias like crazy, I'm glad CCP has abandoned those in the modernized designs, overall the new textures are much smoother looking, well done CCP.
Its good to be [Gallente](http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1209/QEQlJ.jpg).

What's that saying? Beauty is in the eye......

Better an ugly scrapheap challenge creation that goes BANG than a symmetrical piece of fine engineering that goes POP.

And hey, when was the last time you saw a pretty world champion boxer?

I agree, keep the Minmatar ships' character. However, if you can make them look like a Nyx, I may change my mind... Cool

I don't really feel this is that much of a departure from existing minmatar designs. They still look very minmatar. Its sort of neo-scrap. tbh, the new direction of the Caldari and Gallente ships has me much more ehhhhhhhh.

So you like rust eh!

I'm restoring my classic 1969 Pontiac Firebird, you can come over to my place anytime and have as much rust as you want! Bring a bucket or two...

Ugh

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Titans on fire outside "The Alamo" of NOL-M9. I watched massive Super Capital fleets glitter in the dark near the BKG-Q2 gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain...  Time to die.

It seems to me that minmatar ships should look more Amarr than they do, seeing as how they were once their slaves...

Are the Minmatar a race still completely enslaved by the Amarr, or are the a functioning Republic that stands on it's own and is capable of building it's own space stations and stargates?
They can maintain a look and feel, but in the sense of Eve lore, the Republic has come a long way. Duct-taped rust heaps are the mark of a group that is desperate and short on resources. The size of the Minmatar Republic in New Eden doesn't really reflect that.

It's really not the new shapes.
The new brown base color for civilians is the departure of rust we trust.
Needs better skin with textured hull plates layered lovingly over a light frame.
They already showed concepts of hull damage showing interior decks. http://youtu.be/-Z0ndjcRiZU?t=9m3s
They can use this to show gaps in minmi structures (without it on fire)... (yet)

Several of the old Minnie models have graphical issues that make them look like crap (NOT scrap), plus of course capsuleer iteration+Minmatar improvement should change hulls over time.

Seriously, the sole reason why Minmatar ships are so fast is because they don't get weighed down by being "up to code" or by otherwise having frivolous safety devices. Driving a rust bucket is a palace compared to living under the Amarr.

tl;dr - KidsClones nowadays have it so goddamn easy and don't even realize it.
