So, steam have is own HD, 2T. Still very plentiful for other games for space.Tthen brother of mine told me BF 3 for 10 bucks. Was like "wut, BF3 10 bucks? from EA? Please, stop trolling". He wasn't kidding.

So i shelled 10 bucks. Installed on the 300 gig HD . Was already kinda low in space to begin with, but didn't notice until few days later. Only played like 30 minutes of it to try it a bit due of work/school.

then today, was like "mmm, alright, time to move some stuff to free up HD space". Not just origin/battlefield, but also blizzard games like Star Craft II and Diablo II. Move them into the steam HD. Blizzard games ran no problem, but I load up SC II and needed to re-configure. No problemo!

But origin ...

So I double click BF 3 icon, couldn't play because "origin" not installed. Alright, knew that. So i re-install origin to the steam HD. Changed directories and stuff under its settings. Then its re-downloading battlefield 3 ... What ... :(

That wasn't all either... Battlefield 3 data is ... gone. Away 30 gigs into 5 mb when I checked BF 3 folder ... Now here I am, re-downloading, instead of to play like 30 minutes then back to work. Sigh ... Maybe i shouldn't have shelled 10 bucks ... Its almost as bad as I bought guild Wars, spent 50 bucks and only play for 1 week, or buying Star Trek online lifetime for 250 bucks? and only play 2? weeks.

And I only regret those two purchases in my gaming life.

That unlike steam, saving all games data under steammapps/common and subsequent folders, easy to copy/cut and then paste somewhere else, THE UTTER MONSTROSITY that is ORIGIN totally whaaaargbls the data of its game, either hiding it or not being plain easy to just move around ... unlike STEAM.

Talking of other stuff:

Im an avid STEAM user, never had any problems with them, they are not A+ regarding content and other little tibdits of customization/legality/drm , but they are the best of everything available right now and as I move abroad a lot, nothing beats having my gaming library consolidated in a single block.

I dont have issues with the leasing of games I have from them and most digitally downloaded games of this day and age, I know that the only true games I own are the ones I used to buy originally and legally back in the day when Hayes modems were new, but in this specific aspect, Im saddened to see the greed of EA not making most of their new games available on STEAM, but then again, I decided not to buy anything from them a long time ago.

I wish wholeheartedly EA goes bankrupt, they are worst than SOE, and thats saying a lot.

Your post is another reason I will veer away from anything EA, and the decision I made a long time ago was the right one. Dont give them any money, dont feed that utter monstrosity of a company.

One cannot expect Origin to be any kind of good product. Simple as that. Avoid it.

Yeah. I knew better about EA. I really did. Though I Couldnt let pass an oppurtunity to get 10 bucks, especially battlefield or call of duty. That is like, first time ever from EA.

What i am doing you guys a favor though, is my experience. Another reason how much crap origin is. Even blizzard did a good job when you move games to new hdd.

Origin, meh, I got my games playing through it, seems to work okay - guess if I got more than 1 location for games or if I gotta move files around it might be an issue, but I don't see that as an everyday occurrence.

Yeah, but it gets bad if it wipes your game data when moving it. ;(
