What skills/equipment are required to mine mercoxit without creating the cloud now? I never got the cloud when mining it in a skiff. I trained deep core mining 5, thinking that would be the only extra thing needed.

I'm not worried about my ships, but the cloud damages cans when pulled through. I'm mostly worried about drones which I'll be needing after the AI changes this winter.

theres nothing that prevents you from making a cloud now, but it doesnt matter cause the cloud has a radius of 5 km and your lasers have a range of 15

my range is 29k, but the mercoxit roid is right next to where i prefer to sit, the particular spot puts all the other roids in range.

Like I said, I'm not worried about the damage to the ships, its barely a scratch. My drones (hard to micro manage 45 of them) are going to get owned. So I would prefer to get this figured out ahead of time.

The deep core mining skill says "Skill at operating mining lasers requiring Deep Core Mining. 20% reduction per skill level in the chance of a damage cloud forming while mining Mercoxit." Should level 5 not be a 100% reduction?

If you need 9 accounts to mine with (thus 45 drones) your not doing it right anyway.

I dont always mine, but when i do, i prefer......i was going somewhere with this one

seriously, mining with 1-2 toons really is boring, I have to much going on to get bored. I also like being neck deep in minerals/isk to do whatever I want with.

Don't put your drones on the same asteroid you are mining. Problem solved.

This is very strange. Are you sure that ONLY miners with LVL5 is/are mining the mercoxit roid?

yes, 2 miners both with DCM V. the cloud only spawned once last night.

Deep core mining drones? troll detected.....

Ive decided to just train more toons with DCM, and focus on the merc while farther out of range; then move to the center of the belt once its gone.
