I've read in a few places that void is pretty much worthless outside of eft. Why is that?

To be completely honest I use Void all the time with my medium blasters. Love them and the DPS it allows me to get. I have never heard that they are useless, but I also use Null ammo as well to help me reach out and touch someone with the blasters.

Short range, bad tracking, and only slightly improved damage over navy antimatter. Rarely worth it.

This is true but it generally costs half of what faction ammo does.

The arguments against it are mainly from before the hybrid buff. Most people use Void now.

Then again I used it before the buff and was already happy with it then. Only reason to not use void is if you somehow came up with a fit that doesnt allow for atleast one web. If you have a web on your fit use Void otherwise Navy ammo will probably suit you better.

Null loaded, AM if spectacular tracking is needed, but Void+overheat is the default when the target is of same or larger size, and properly pinned down.

meh, you get a bit worse tracking, in exchange for more dps, marginally lower range than CNAnti (BUT MOAR OPTIMAL) But void in general are supposed to be used along with a warp scrambler and web against equal sized, or larger ships, and not a MwD and disruptor against smaller ship types like most people do.

void is awesome on a blaster tengu!

Void is fine for most stuff other than t1 frig fights.. Since in those the tracking penalties will exceed the dps bonus.

should always carry void, null and CN AM.

Just don't use void on anything that moves fast.

It has better optimal than antimatter, but lower falloff. it's perfect for Battleships or cruisers who fight in opti (thorax/brutix).

People will say that faction antimatter is better in most cases but thats really not true at all. If you dont fly your ship like a dork and have a web, void is almost always better.

Except for frigates - which null is better for due to overshoot and the average length of a fight spent in optimal.

Why is it always "CN" AM?
Last I checked, in all regions, Caldari Navy hybrid charges were selling for more than Fed navy hybrid charges... yet they have the exacy same stats.... it seems in fits most people specify CN, or sometimes just "Navy", never fed navy/FN

Because EFT lists CN ammo in it, but not fed navy ammo, because they both do the same damage so EFT removed fed navy (to save space/make it less complex). Therefore, all the tards who look only at EFT and never check anything else automatically think that they need CN and go "durr... what is fed navy?"

Basically, people being stupid.

Depends on witch ship and weapon size you're using.
-If you use large blasters Void and Null is all you need in your cargo.
-If you use med blasters you might as well get Faction AM instead since dps difference is not huge enough to make a difference and you keep a better range for dmg application and tracking
-If you use small blasters just use faction AM+T2 LR

Just an opinion, I have perfect gunnery skills and under large blasters i don't see any reason to use T2 short range for other purpose than gank freighters/mining barges since you're always in absolute optimal.
EFT numbers is one thing, once you start flying it's a whole different thing.

Cases where I never apply this rule are: Proteus/Megathron because tracking and range bonus, everything else I always use faction AM over Void unless specific case (witch you have close to 0 chances to know before you start roaming)
