Who? If it's me, let me just clear the fog by saying that (IMO) Amarr has some strength with carriers and tanking, whereas Amarr are just OK with PVE and PVP (OK all around, if you understand) as where the other races beat Amarr in other certain areas. Obviously, there are exceptions to everything. Shield tanked or missile based Amarr T2's, excellent PVE Minmatar ships, PVP capable Caldari (and IMO, really good at what those certain ships do), etc. and I hope you all understand what I'm trying to say, the big picture of things. Obviously if everything was entirely fair and equal, that wouldn't be fun now, would it?

Your kind of wrong about a lot of things. Most importantly, the relative merits and demerit of sub-capitals in no way is relevant to balancing capitals. Giving minmatar a terribad carrie because they have good pvp sub-caps ? WTF ? It would seem that you are saying that its ok that there is only really one carrier for pvp use. That's why everyone is calling you a troll. If you have no idea either about capitals, or about decent game balance, please for the love of god don't post in a thread about balancing capitals.

Aside from anything else, every race has good pve and pvp ships now. Forcing people who are perfectly happy with their minmatar or gallente tree to train amarr BS 5 point blank sucks. Particularly since all of the logistics ships are good solid, relevant ships should tell you that race does not effect how remote-repair type ships should be balanced.

Properly on topic -

To my mind, the key to this issue is first and foremost about capacitor. The archon not only has the best cap, it also gets a 'free' low-slot from its armor bonus for another cap relay. That's why it shines so much. The other carriers (aside from shield fitting stuff) seem balanced between themselves, but the archon is just destined to be more effective on the field because it gets more of the most relevant stuff.

To get the other carriers to the same place, they basically need another slot each, and cap relays need to not effect capital mods (or maybe effect them less... that'd take some finesse). That'd buy all of them either the same amount of tank as they have, with better cap, or more tank and the same cap. Either is fine by me.

Negative - slaves do not need changed. Crystals just need to affect capital shield boosters. :D

Last time I checked it wasn't active tanking that made the Aeon and Avatar so ludicrously strong. I realise this thread is focusing on carriers specifically, but the slave issue extends well past that.
Either introduce an equivilent implant set for shields, or nerf slaves.

Ed: Also, IMO the Chimera needs some major fitting improvements and the Niddy needs some minor fitting improvements. I truly believe the ability to run full out shield or armor setups is important for both the Niddy and the Thanny. I would have said that the Thannys bonus should extend to all drones - not to increase the bonus to fighters.

Completely agree. It looks like the fitting improvements for the Chimera are on the way in the form of a shield transfer CPU reduction (no idea how much so, though). And agreed fully on the thanny bonus.

More crap.

Oh dear, seems I need to use the simple words for you.
You seem to think that "ships being on an equal footing" is the same thing as "ALL SHIPS ARE THE SAME NO VARIETY ZOMG"
What being on an equal footing would actually do is mean that players would actually have a choice between different ships, depending on what works better in different situations, thus leading said ships to actually be used, and thus a more varied an interesting game.

Know what happens when one race of ships stands head and shoulders over the rest? People use it to the near-complete exclusion of all others. The other choices may as well not even exist. How exactly is that good game design?

I suppose you're also one of those fools who doesn't want the tier system corrected, because you think it's awesome that a third of the ships in the game are unusable Roll

Let me know if you need dictionary definitions of any of the big words there, ^ I realise you struggle understanding, well, most of this game it seems.
