So I says to her

"The only difference between you and me is your black on white (fb dontcha know) and I'm white on black.

But occasionally, ocassionally, all hell breaks lose and there's a bit of work to do.

Please darling, I need a cyno out. I want to do blops but I need my 2 screens for blop and cyno in."

I get a flat, emotionless and unequivocable NO. (marriage does that)

So I wondered, does your wife/girlfiriend/whatever play?

If so, what made them join and are they any good at it?

After twenty years I'd imagine field curvatures would flatten out substantially, but not entirely.

I think there's a pill...

Not to get all stereotypical but games that focus on gratification through mass destruction and egocentric power struggles tend to appeal more towards the masculine end of the gender spectrum, while games that encourage creativity, imagination, and exploration tend more towards the feminine.

So yeah, good luck getting her excited about statistical spreadsheets and the destruction of blobs of little colored squares occupying the vast emptiness of space, if you want to enjoy an MMO with your wife something in the fantasy genre would probably work better.

Supposedly walking in stations was going to fix all this, but I'm skeptical. Blink

Considering the types of MMOs women seem to prefer (Hello Kitty Online, Maplestory, World of Warcraft) WiS content probably would bring in more female gamers.

Me married? Why the hell would I fall for that trap? Ugh

No not married, but my girlfriend used to get on my case about playing video games too much, know what got her to stop? I bought her a laptop and introduced her to Hello Kitty Online and World of Warcraft, now I don't get crap about playing MMOs all the time because shes just as addicted as I am. Blink

Dude, grow a spine and tell that woman to fetch you a beer or she won't get money for her nails this week. Its a damn shame how much power some men allow their women over them. Pirate

'waves hand'

is wife of a long time player

what got me interested?

well, I'm a gamer anyway so frankly that's most of the battle =/ if she's not into games at all, you got your work cut out for you. And not to be too blunt, but you're prolly SOL if she doesn't anyway... I just haven't heard too many stories of success in that case - maybe you will be the lucky exception!

if she does like games, even like Farmville or whatever the latest fad is, great! You stand a chance (imo). You have to identify what she prefers - building? resource gathering? exploring? spending time with you IG? (ie mission running) Apply the appropriate Eve related activity and go for it.

It probably also helps if she likes puzzles, a lot of aspects of Eve are challenging in that sort of way (manufacturing especially).

Once you get past some of the "oh it's ships shooting stuff in space" and see the many activities you can participate in, it's a lot easier to get "into it".

I actually would let her do the various tutorials, don't give her "seed money" as it were, it just takes the joy out of accomplishing anything on your own. Let her ask questions, but don't answer them all in depth, keep it simple and help her find her own sources. Or if she is the kind to not want to ask questions, don't offer any! Especially criticism, as it tends to not be that well received.

on a final note, if she really does like Farmville, I'd strongly suggest you introduce her to PI (even if it's on an alt on your own acct) - I swear it's just Farmville in space. Not that that's a bad thing, I actually enjoy it myself. And it might help her get a handle on marketing/trading in game which is bloody complicated!

Ok, well anyway there's my two credits :P obviously my own opinion, good luck!

This! ^^ Let her run through all the tutorial missions. Even to an old ( possibly bitter ) vet - they're actually kinda fun. Not to mention the agents hand out ISK's, just about every frig/destroyer she'd need, skill books and a decent selection of mods. Be prepared to offer help on the exploration one though. Not a lot of guidance in the care and feeding of probes starting that one off.

Yes... she plays all kind of games. 360, PS3 and PC and of course Eve Online.

She has 5 billion isk in the wallet - so I guess she is doing it right..

Sorry for the late reply man. I was hanging out the washing.

But yeah. You're right. I just got my club out and told her to grow her hair longer so hopefully she'll respond better in a few weeks.

And I don't drink beer. But she does bring me my hot cocoa so I suppose I can't be too hard on her.

Got a older female friend hooked on consoles once. She was about to committ me when she saw the side of me hacking into a game to repair some bugged standings. The trickery part appealed to her enough to not write me off as a nut. Eventually she got hooked bad on Zelda. Exploring and treasure hunting, social interactions appealed to her. We got all that here but its covered up with technical complexities. A woman as A CEO could work real well, many are good at business and creativity if they don't have to get bogged down in the details we enjoy. I wasn't kidding when I said CEO. Let her tell you what to do next to build her little empire. Go beyond the chores. Let her get sucked into the wonder and mystery with something like exploration. It could be like beach combing or shopping but don't forget what really drives the obsession, curiosity. Eve Seduces.
