As someone with "sort-of" a creative job I kinda agree with OP, some of those Alliance logo's are terribad. Whether they should pass the screening proces... yeah, I think they should. As long as there is no obvious "problematic" content in these logos (racism and the like) people should be as free as possible to design their own logos, provided they are submitted in the proper format.

The Goonswarm logo is one of the best examples of "wrong done right". While I feel it has zero connection to the lore and style as established by the devs, it is a well-drawn design that resembles Goonswarm rather well. As such, it simply becomes part of the landscape, part of the content players generate themselves and can identify with. Slowly but surely, the exact wording "has the look and feel of EvE Online" is shifting in meaning: when I think about the look and feel of EvE right now that look and feel includes militaristic bees and suited tyrannosaurs.

Is this development really that detrimental to Eve's general look and feel? I'm divided on the whole subject, so I'd best shut up now.

Huh. Does look like CCP's been slipping a bit here.

Something else I'd like to note is that names and logos that reference current (21st century) culture and Internet memes are...let's say a bit immersion-breaking. And before you say "lolRP", EVE is supposed to have a certain amount of plausibility. As I love to say, it's a sci-fi simulator not a LEET SPACESHIP PEEVEEPEE simulator.
