What might have kept me playing EVE

I agree CCP need to do something more dynamic, the universe is so static and dull, for example Malkalen is still burning, its been many months, and will probably be burning for many months more, EVE has a daily downtime a more perfect excuse to make a dynamic universe there has never been.

Can anyone really give me a reason why CCP aren't making the universe more dynamic? They just keep changing the same things over and over again, new effects to replace the sllightly older but still quite new effects, rebalancing ships so they can rebalance them again little later.

We have 4 different captains quarters, they look good I guess but I would rather there were 8 that looked slightly less good, graphics have never been a particularly inmportant part of an MMO, instead of spending dev resources on remodeling and reskinning all the time, I think there time would be better spent creating all new material, doesn't everyone that plays EVE want to be the first person to discover something? Even if its just a new module CCP snook in during the last downitme thats basically the same as every other module but with a cool name or a slight stat difference, EVE isn't just about what your doing right now its about what you might be doing later on, and if i can already fully plan everything thats gonna happen in my next play session it loses most of it's charm.

EVE seems to have gotten to the point where most people dont play the game for whats in it right now, they play in anticipation fo the next expansion and what that might bring, but CCP only do expansions every so often, I ask why? why wait 6 months and inject lots into the game when you can inject things monthly, weekly or even daily using downtime.

To sum up, EVE should be everchanging and I dont mean rebalance the ships or add new effects every week I mean add NEW CONTENT to the game, move agents around, add agents, make things happen in space, build a new space station in a system once in a while, dismantle or destroy one, add debris fields and backstory, anomolies that are actually anomolous and not already mapped 3 ways to sunday on Evelopedia. Would it take time? Yes it would it would require a dedicated team working on it at all times, would it be worth it? Most definately, does EVE need it? Absolutely.

To work on the analogy posed by the OP, EVE online is a sandox, it's just sand and CCP keep adding more every year, but what if one day they added different coloured sand? What happens to the sandbox then? what will happen next week when they add a yet again different coloured sand? Oh The wonders we could create.

Hiro Ceffoe your points would be nice for many people, especially for those who have been here longer. But think about the balance? New modules with little stat differences and new names? You can't just willy-nilly add modules and ships or whatever into the game and hope for the best.

"It's a sandbox don't worry" then voilá some people find out how to make a big buck out of it or maximize that one modules worth and everyone is self-destructing their battleships and one-shotting people 250km out. Is this a world you want to live in?

I don't think balance is so important as to hamstring the game that way, one module is NOT going to woefully unbalance the game, so someone has a 10 percent bonus to thermal damage until that ship is blown up and the module is lost, its not going to destroy the game.

EVE like life is unfair, if someone is lucky enough to find a rare module then good for them, if people want to sacrifice there battleships for a chance to destroy that module then good for them too, sandbox is sandy.

Balancing everything out in a game makes the game boring, I understand that things require balancing in an MMO to a certain degree, but making everything perfectly balanced is not only never going to happen, its also rather boring.

If CCP were to put 20 x 125 Railguns into the game at the next downtime hidden in all new complexes, identical to other 125 Railguns but with 5x more damage or ROF, would the EVE universe even notice? 20 people would, it would change there view of the game forever and the people they fly with would also be affected to a limited degree, but they would not win EVE using these modules.

And that is why the game is still much the same now. There's no incentive for developers to try new things when people just pay without actually using the service.

That's why so many people, myself included, object to EVE's current "leveling" system. Not only does it cripple new players and create an extremely uneven playing experience, it also results in unhealthy habits like paying and not playing because your character is "leveling" by itself.

Seriously, think about it. You haven't logged in. But you forked over $120. WHY!? For that much money you could have bought 2-10 other games (depending on how new, and whether on sale or not) that would have provided possibly a hundred hours or more of entertainment value. Or more. Instead, you hand it to CCP without really getting anything in return. And they really have no incentive to alter things, when this happens, because it's an ideal business model. Almost like gym membership - people fork over $350 a year and then show up maybe a dozen times.

Of course basic knowledge if you are english, if not then it becomes more advanced knowledge, do you KNOW that the person writing that doesn't know 4 different languages? Or did you just discount his opinion and feedback because he misused a word?

He misused a word
You displayed grande arrogance and language elitism, Of the two of you I, like many others, prefer to read the OP's kind of posts.

So I know why I am in this thread, why don't you tell me why you are here? I hear there are all sorts of language mishaps around this here interwebs, why did you decide this one was so worthy of your time?

I happen to agree with the OP 100%, and I have been in the game for a lot longer (nearly 8 yrs).

I had aspirations of a space exploration/ crew interaction game like Star Flight (1990?) Space trading and transport systems like Privateer (mid 90's) and a true system of being able to explore deep space (after affording the ship that could do it) w/o having to worry about being ganked by mental midgets with low self esteem ever 2 minutes. Ture space physics (duh!) Space stations you can walk around in, planets you can land on and move around (Starflight I&II) and maybe, just maybe a decent story line.

What we got was a game put together by people who have no first hadn knowledge of ANY of it's parts. They don't understand any of the following:

Space physics
Accounting
Insurance
Ship design
Crew(s) (period)
Mining
MFG
PI
Goverment
Security
Policing

It's all partially, or incorrectly implemented and poorly maintained.

The game seems to have been produced by and for those mental midget gankers and this has turned off the vast majority of people who might otherwise play this game.

As someone else said 'What else is there' is the only thing that keeps us clinging to hope.

If Bioware, or any other computer gaming company is interested I am sure we could put together a game that would wipe this one out, overnight, easily and quickly.

In all seriousness CCP has lost me as a customer, I am paid up for another year or so but they've gone completely nuts with their ADD nerf bat.

Reasoning:
+ Caldari are going to be removed as a viable PVP race
+ Minmatar have got their first slight, and it won't end until they are destroyed.
+ Null-Sec will collapse under the failure of fleet doctrines based on these hulls.

And their reasoning for doing it?

They got bored, and decided to screw with stuff.

Now with 100% less Troll.
