Congratz on losing your first ship and pod.

You should accept it as a natural part of your Eve life. Basically you should consider your ship lost the moment you click undock button as there is no real security outside of station. With this mindset even shiny loses are easier to get over with. Ship is just a tool, real value lies in yours as a player knowledge, experience and ability to get upper hand using others mistakes against them.

Of course getting to this point will take time investment from your side and I don't mean only playing time, reading forums asking questions AFTER USING SEARCH BUTTON, planning skills training, deciding what you really want to do in Eve and what you need to achieve that - this is all part of your personal growth as a New Eden capsuleer.

It's good too see that you are maybe even amused by the fact your frozen body is in somebody's fridge :) I personally collect bodies but only because I am terrible and each time I manage to pod somebody is like Christmas for me.

But anyway, you seem to have good attitude so keep it up, don't be afraid to make mistakes and lose things, don't let anybody to tell you how you should play your game - I mean listen to advice but make your own decisions. If you wanna mine then mine, if you wanna shoot rats - do it, if you wanna hang around undock in your newbie ship don't let anybody tell you it is wrong way of playing.

Last advice from me: find a corp. Maybe first one won't be perfect match but finally you find THE ONE with right people and activities you interested in. And then Eve will be a little warmer place to hang out :)

What a good attitude. Well done noob.

One completely unrelated tip is that its a good idea to join a bigish active corporation early on, as they will teach you the game. Good suggestions are Eve University, or, when you have a week or two's experience, Red vs Blue (a PvP alliance that teaches noobs cheap ship PvP)

You can talk to me ingame too for all your questions, I have helped many newbs in the past and can tell you a bit about nearly every aspect of the game. I haven't been on as much lately cause I'm in the middle of moving but I'd still try to get to evemails.

Also join my channel (see my bio) and my friends in there can help too :D

xercodo! dont scare off the noobs!

And a word of warning to the op:

yes people are friendly and helpful to new people that admit they made a mistake and laugh.

but whine about anything (even if it is a stupid game mechanic) and you are likely to be flamed to hell and back :) and.. in some cases hunted down and killed in game. not that i would know anything about that.. heard from people you know.. *whistles*

also.. you might as well start assuming everyone is out to kill you.. most are but we are in general very nice about it and willing to help you after we blown you out of the sky as a previous posted said. :)

but yes join a largish corp that focus on what you are interested in (or eve university (they may teach total failfits a lot of the time but in general they are not bad)). dont join a newbie corp run by newbies.. you need older characters willing to help you and explain this game is very complex. heck i still run afoul of some stuff.. (yes laugh at my silly mistake running into highsec (opposite of what you did but i am wanted in highsec.. at least i got one kill before CONCORD blapped me much to the laughter on mumble)).

so..

welcome to EVE :) looking foreward to ganking you real soon but in the friendliest of ways of course.

ps: feel free to shoot me eve mails as well if you wish ds.

Thanks for your reply! So my old ship is set unactive?
And someone has my corpse? Haha, is that bad?

As others have probably already said, your old ship was destroyed; you can purchase a new one, or use the rookie ship you're given automatically, but before you can use any ship, you need to right-click it and select 'Assemble Ship' from the context menu. Basically, you have to take the thing out of the box before you can fly!

And a corpse -- well, some people use them for bragging rights, or offer to ransom them back to their victims, or even collect them for trophies. It's not 'bad' (though it is a bit gruesome and morbid), but it's all part of life in New Eden.

Good luck out there! Watch out for the Sleepers!
