Problem solved. Please read if your client blinks out and fails to show login screen.

Problem solved. Close thread if so desired.

But for people who don't feel like scrolling to the bottom: It is apparently possible to press alt+enter after the client starts. This will enter windowed mode, and you'll see a really buggy looking login screen. It's best at this point just to close the client and restart it; when you do this, it'll be in working order. I suggest placing it into 'fixed window mode' if you want something close to fullscreen; there's a bit of an FPS hit but it's nothing major. Better than being locked out.

For the entire day I've been unable to actually log into the Duality client as it seems to be set on winking partially out of existance every time I start it. It looks like it's going to get up and running, but then suddenly the screen will blink and go back to the desktop- without mouse functionality, until I ctrl+alt+del and end the program.

I've got no idea what could be causing this. I've bug reported it, tried reinstalling the Duality client (which did nothing) and have attempted to use the repair tool to see if that'd actually do anything. So far, it hasn't.

So it's probably a long shot seeing as there aren't many people on Duality right now anyways, but might anyone have a workaround or at least a diagnosis for this problem?

I'm having the same issue. I get black-screen for maybe a full second, and then I'm looking at my desktop with my cursor missing. I've repaired and re-patched the client several times, and no improvement. Well, actually, the black-screen only lasted a fraction of a second before I re-patched, so I guess that much has changed.

Do you both have up to date GFX drivers?

Yes, I updated both my drivers and my DirectX installation fairly recently.
I'm updating my DirectX 11 installation as well just in case.

EDIT: Alright, turns out they released a 220MB new driver on the 13th. Downloading now and I'll get back to you.

Driver and DirectX are now updated to the most recent version, and the problem persists.

Same here.

CPU: Intel Core i7 2630QM
GPU Nvidia GT 540M

Edit: Worked around it by copying settings from a windowed TQ client to the duality client

The Mac version for Duality seems to be broken. It updates fine, gives you a "play" button. Pushing that results in no log-in window. The client just sits there using CPU. If you select "about Eve" from the menu you get the expected window, so its not locked up. But.. no log in window ever shows up.

Right; perhaps you could also give an inkling on exactly how that's done?

Apparently, even though it SEEMED that everything had frozen I was still able to press alt+enter immediately after starting the client. This entered windowed mode.

I was then able to restart the client, and everything's worked fine.

Many apologies for the delay in the response for how to actually get this workaround.

I was hoping people actually knew some bits of where eve has stuff on your computer in the test server forums.

Oh well the alt+enter solution is much simpler anyway.
