So I ask this question more so out of curiosity then anything.

Have any of you been affected by events in real life from your eve addiction?

Such as wife leaving you etc, losing your job from taking to much time off work to play eve?

Weekends are now spent indoors playing eve etc.

More people have been affected by this game than you would ever believe.

Plus it is a haven for disaffected damaged people.

And a big hello to all the bitter middle aged divorced Dads who play this game to run away from their soul crushing existance.

I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

I met my boyfriend, got an apartment, and now have a decent standard of living.

Thanks Eve Online!

What is "real life"? Straight

Seriously though I can honestly say in the almost one month that I've been playing this game I haven't really noticed any changes in my offline life, EVE is the kind of game (so far atleast) that a person can play as casually or constantly as they want to, then again all I really do is solo stuff atm so who knows how things will be if I ever meet other people to play with, maybe its still too early to comment one way or another. What?

Yes this game has had a RL impact.

I no longer seek to scam or steal from people in real life, or attack strangers for no reason when they are in the ghetto away from police protection. I also get to stab friends in the back which I couldn't do in RL because I would rightfully be beaten up for it.

IF IT WASN'T FOR EVE I WOULD BE IN PRISON AND SOMEONE WOULD MAKE ME THEIR SEXUAL SLAVE

My real life has more effect on my EVE life than the other way around. It's all about how you prioritize.

..of course, I don't have kids, a wife, or any thing to sidetrack really. My job, (all of them), is more important than a video game for obvious reasons, but even I stay up to ridiculous hours doing this or that, and whatever time it is, I get up in the morning and go to work. Even a little tired, I'm not much affected in my performance.

EVE is a hobby. I'm sure some people have issues with married life and their hobbies not meshing, but that goes for pretty much any hobby. It all depends on the relationship in question. One reason I'm still single is, hobbies or not, I haven't the tolerance for someone trying to rule me.

This isn't WoW. I hope Eve players are smart enough not to lose their job/life/wife because of a damn game.

I just turned into an egg, did I level up? I spent an hour trying to salvage a wreck, when in local a guy said "Stop it, this is my Tempest, I was AFK"

Agreed with the above. Now my girlfriend doesnt agree with eve, but understands that it is a hobby, the same way that she has hobbies **** she does for fun.

Mine however is sitting in front of a computer talking to people that I have never met in real life before discussing internet spaceshipz

EVE has a near-zero minimum time commitment. If this game is "******* up your life", the problem lies in you 100%.

This isn't WoW, custom built to suck every possible hour away once it grips you with raids and dailies.

I don't have a GF anymore because I was playing eve a lot a year ago, but I think I played eve so much then because she was treating me like ****, and I had no other outlets. When you have other things to do, all "eve addition" causes is a lost 15 bucks a month per toon and a few mins a week or so putting new skills on your que.

Eve hasn't affected my life as I'm very disciplined with priorities but it did teach me to recognise real life carebears with ease.

I was late to work once...stupid aggro timer

Also, my wife is cool with it...I made the toon look like her (minus the bitchin face tat). Its sounds stupid to a guy but that **** actually works on women.

EVE hasn't affected my real life, but I'm starting to lose all my steam and xbox live friends because I neglect pretty much every single other game.
Actually now that I think about it, my family might be worried about me. I'll go outside and check, assuming I can navigate through these piles of cheetoh crumbs, red bull cans, and dorito bags.

*Edit* I went outside and my family called the police, they thought I was an intruder. That really puts thing into perspective, but I have to .01 some orders now.
