DISCLAIMER: I do not care about highsec. I don't live in highsec. Look at my corp/alliance info under my avatar and realize I don't live in highsec. Thank you.

I have been doing some research, and maybe I just suck at it.

I have looked through several articles, on the eve-o site and off, and I can not find anything that gives any information on how the spawn-mechanics for gas clouds work.

I know they are only in certain regions, but do they randomly spawn in these regions? Are they permanently in a certain system like asteroid belts and ice belts (I know they are not listed in the UI to warp to, you have to scan them down)
Do they respawn on a time cycle? Or just whenever they are depleted? Are they linked to the Industry Index? Or some other index?

I saw on one site (that was very out-dated, still showed BoB as holding SOV) that gas clouds are permanently in certain constellations within certain regions and do not spawn outside that constellation. Is this correct?

Spawns are rare and random. High Sec ones can be found in Molden Heath (Azure Mykocerosin) and Derelik (Lime Mykocerosin).

I'm not looking for highsec. High sec spawns are rare, but not as rare in nullsec, where I live. I have already read that page, and if you notice, there are No Gas Clouds listed for nullsec.

I found a few low end gases in The Forge a few months ago but not anything in cobalt edge. So not sure on the spawn regions. I remember it was limited to a few but not sure why.

again, I dont care anything about highsec or lowsec sites. I do not live there and have not been there in months.

I know that they spawn in Cloud Ring, which is mainly where I will be harvesting them. I am just trying to understand the mechanic to make finding them easier.

The reason I said something about high sec is because it may have recently changed. However I do not see them in CE.

Gas harvesting seems to be a somewhat forgotten part of the game. Hope having low ends in high is a precursor to things to come.

They can't give you high ends as much, seeing as how high-end boosters are illegal in highsec... which is what I am after.

Nah, wouldn't make sense but randomly spawning gas clouds based on security levels would be nice. I'm sure CCP thinks it's a way to get people to try and take other space and hold it but we see how well that worked with tech...

o7 brothers. While I haven't gas mined or probed down sites in about a year, here are my general observations and findings from the previous 3 - 4 years (this does not cover w-space):

1) Ladar sites are available in nearly every security level of space. What differs is the quality of the site (AMOUNT of gas available to be mined) as well as the type based upon region. Also, the things required to make various types of boosters differ across various security levels. Low-sec, believe it or not, can have some viable Ladar sites for gas harvesting. Null-sec is where you will find the largest, most rewarding and most dangerous Ladar sites for booster-related gases.

2) If you are serious about harvesting gas for a specific booster type, then keep in mind that there are specific null-sec regions and specific constellations w/in those regions historically associated with the introduction of ladar sites and booster production.

3) In the world of booster production, gas is gas. In other words, it doesn't matter if you harvest a specific gas type (Azure Cytoserocin for example) in high, low or null-sec. You will still get the same gas. Instead, it is the blueprints for various reactions which determine the quality of the booster produced in the end.

4) There are ladar sites and then there are ladar sites. Some sites have only gas clouds and NPCs. Some have a bunch of NPCs AND cans containing goodies. Those goodies can be blueprints for the various reactions required to make boosters. You will need both gas and blueprints (and a place in which to perform the reactions). It is up to you on what you can / want to buy verses what you harvest on your own when gathering these booster-related ingredients.

Ladar sites are pretty rare in hisec IME. I've been doing exploration pretty regularly for the past year or so, and I've only run into a couple of them. Lots and lots of unstable wormholes, lots of crappy omber grav sites, but almost no ladar sites.
