I didn't know him well. Only got to talk to him a couple of times really. During the monoclegate situation at the outset of incarna, after the CSM was called to Iceland and basically went into lockdown, he was one of 2 members of the CSM who still came out and talked with us.

I can tell you that he cared a ton for Eve, and New Eden is a darker place without him.

There are never great words to say at a time like this, but my thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family, what a tragic loss.

My sincerest condolences go out to his family. You will be missed. I believe I was fortunate enough to go out with a couple of fleets with him. From what I knew of him, very cool dude.

Goon or not, I highly recommend reading the Mitanni's write up about Vile Rat. Really gives great insight for those of us who did not know Vile Rat personally as to how much we as an Eve community just lost. R.I.P. Vile Rat, my condolences and thoughts are with your loved ones tonight.
