I used to keep Tarantulas until the GF at the time insisted she wasn't spending another moment in my bed with that "gurt hairy spider" watching her, the threat of "lackonookie" decided matters and the spider went to my brother. These days I just have a cat.

Ha ha, does your brother call that spider "Lackanookie"? That's a great name for any kind of crawly or slithery pet. I'd name my next one that, but eventually my kids would get old enough to understand the joke.

I used to have an African mongoose. Man, what a fun pet. Never had a ferret, but similar I guess. His favorite game was to be thrown across the room. He'd just roll across the floor and keep coming back for more. The only drawback is the things are continually hungry and always rooting around the premises for food. Once it grabbed my sister's rescued baby squirrel and hid behind the fridge crunching away on it. Pretty unpleasant for everybody, and Mom didn't like that much. Not long after that, it made off with an entire baked red snapper that had just been put on the dinner table. That's when I had to adopt it out to my friend.

Not exactly in the same family but raccoons are awesome pets. I like giving them sugar cubes. It's hilarious. For those of you who don't know, raccoons wash their food religiously. Sugar dissolves in water. The look on its face when the cube disappears. What's worse is when it does it again.
