I recently broke the billion isk mark and I thought I was well loaded with isk, but now I'm not sure. Is it common to have a billion?

I guess people who fly shiny tengus and golems can afford to lose them, which must mean they have several billion perhaps.

Wallet size is not very meaningful as people might put all their ISK into assets. Therefor the net asset value (NAV) is a good measure of wealth, i.e. the sum of the value of everything you own minus what you owe. You can calculate it with tools like EveHQ.
I'd say it is normal for players to accrue dozens of billions in NAV over the years.

These topics pop-up quite often and there's no easy way to answer them. "Rich" in EvE means something different to everyone and people all arrive to these topics thinking they're rich and leave feeling like a grain of sand on the beach.

To answer your question though: a billion ISK is a substantial sum and marks your first significant 'ISK milestone'. It is, however, relatively common.

To me, rich is more a measure of how quickly you can make isk rather than how much you have in your wallet currently.
For example, if it takes you a month to make a bil, youre not rich. If you can do it in an hour, now youre getting there.

As for raw isk value, 1bil isnt much.
It largely depends on your play stye and environment but for me, 1bil doesnt even cover one ship.

"Average for all characters: 588tn ISK / 8.17 mil = 72 million ISK"
"Average for characters on active accounts: 372tn ISK / 745,000 = 499 million ISK"

I didn't consider myself rich until I had around 25B disposable. Of course it's all subjective.

As previous posters have said, it's different for each person, especially as many will have their wealth in assets as opposed to raw ISK.

I thought of myself as pretty well off when I hit the 10bill mark, though most of that has gone into ships, BPOs etc. But even 10B is small change to some.

Personally though, I feel that as long as you can spend it on ships and not flinch when they get blown up, that's a good balance.

1 bil in your wallet is small change for people who play to fatten their wallets, but a significant sum for people who play to spend money. It is an important milestone for many. Personally I fluctuate between 1 and 3 bill ISK in wallet. When I dip below a billion I play to fatten the wallet buffer, but otherwise I'll ignore how much money I've got.

I make 1 bil per week when I have enough time. So I guess everything above 10b more than average...

Thanks for the replies. With assets I have about 2bill. I recently bought a CNR and I follow the rule "only fly what you can afford to lose"

Well I feel rich :P

Considering one guy recently bought a schmitar BPO on the sell forums for 310b, only CCP know the real wealthiest player in EVE Online.

Certain Goons have hundreds of billions persoanlly, certain players hold hundreds of billions worth of T2 BPO's, so its really hard to estimate who the richest player in EVE actually is.
I'd guess the guy who bought that Schmitar BPO has quite a substantion pile considering he can blow 310b of it and a BPO and still have a nice pile to work with afterwards.

You have to remember, all types of people play eve, from 14yr old high schoolers, to lawyers, doctors, directors of companies ect and should these guys wish, i'm sure they could sink thousands of RL money into GTC's so make their escape that little bit more enjoyable.

I know should i win the lottery and become a millionaire IRL, i'd think nothing of spending tens of thousands on Plex just because i could and just because i'd like to see a 1t wallet balance heh

Does anyone else get annoyed if they go under a certain amount? It's like a basis I don't want to go below, for me it is 2 bil. Just in case, I always say.

1 Billion ISK is nothing. I can make that in a week doing 2 missions a night after work.

I like to keep a reserve of 1b so I can replace any ships I may lose (I don't fly anything worth more than ~300m as a matter of policy).

But actually I ignore this rule more often than not and end up with only 200m or so in my wallets What? Right now though I'm in the comfort zone with about 1.5b liquid ISK.

At any rate my goal is not 'being rich', I just pull in enough ISK to buy what I want to fly, I don't waste any more time than neccessary on PvE. That's why I'll never have many billions of ISK piled up no matter how many more years I'm going to play this game.

There certainly are a few people with net worth in trillions. I haven't heard anyone claim a 10T net worth yet, but I guess it is not impossible by now.

well I made 1 billion within my first month of starting the game so I doubt it's considered rich if a complete noob could do it.....

Rich is when you're having isk to support the type of gaming you like,or have you forgot this is a video game
