it's also very handy in the help channel where people tend to ask the same questions again and again (mostly after patches)

Help channel also gets a lot of traffic so an answer can get lost, it's easier to get the answer from the history rather than retype it all.

oh sure its handy but also can be a totally unexpected and annoying feature too!

lets say you just typed a full paragraph and you realise you did a typo, so you hold ctrl and arrow back a few words and whoops, you just hit up instead of left ...... aaaaaaaaaaaand its gone.

This is probably correct.

But the question that will haunt poor CCP Karkur will be slightly different.

Which line of code ...

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

I don't even know what these guys are talking about. What is this feature and how do you use it?

It's been there for as long as I can remember, and I started back in '03 Lol

I do love it though, when you randomly find little things you didn't notice before in game :3

I don't have to deal with it because Greyscale found that line and fixed it himself Smile

Awesome, how and what do you use it for?

Fc 's repeating a message as people join fleet. For example. Eve is also a coop game. There are plenty of reasons you might want to repeat a message to friends.

"DO NOT JUMP OR YOU'LL DIE A MISERABLE DEATH"

That is something you want to repeat often...very often...

Here's what the average fleet member will read:

Haha! Lol yeah, it's amazing no matter how many times you tell the fleet NOT to jump on contact with the next gate and people STILL manage to jump to the other side. Lol

JUMP is a word reserved in my fleets I command.

Noone is allowed to say it but me, and only I am allowed to say it when I want people to jump. We avoid it at all costs. ;p

Repeat...

the order is actually kind of confusing, and once I was going to try to fix it, but then decided people can just repeat until they get the correct one (since the only complaints I've "heard" about it have been inside my own head P )

This feature is invaluable to me and it seems to have gotten worse recently ( more random ) to the point that its virtually unusable. Even if I don't chat in the channel and just use it for my trade links. I am on a mac.

Say I have 3 contract links.

Chat A = Link1
Chat B = Link 2
Chat C = Link 3

How it used to work ( a few month ago) was...

Chat A ->enter
Chat B -> enter
chat C -> enter

Ctrl Down -> enter = Chat A
Ctrl Down Down -> enter Chat B
Ctrl Down Down Down -> Chat C

Now ... it is completely random. Sometime I get Chat A then a blank box then chat A again a few times then chat B ... and most time chat C is lost.

Also, If i setup the above chats with links in them. If i make a chat D and copy paste plain text into it... it erases the cache of chat ABC ....

Please please please fix this feature, I am a full time trader and I am begging you to make the functionality meaningful and consistent!

Please see my above post, I don't know if its just a Mac issue. But it has been broken for me for months. Now that I found this thread I am worried that the one line of code fix may have broken it for macs. Please take a look at this, I would be happy to provide more feedback if necessary.

Now that I know there is a thread about this I have done more testing. Using the above example...

After entering chat ABC...

Ctrl Down -> enter = Chat A
Ctrl UP UP -> enter = Chat B

... Chat C is lost completely ... any other combination then the one above will not result in a consistent A then B
