There has not been a lot of talk about how much CPU load Dust player cause on EVE servers.

Mass tests have shown 1000+ EVE players turn on TIDI very easily on Sisi. The Buckingham test will be restricted to 200 people,i am guessing, becouse of TIDI concerns during the mass tests this coming week.

Dust players have been split up over 12+ EVE systems so far with a max of 3392 players on Sisis last night.

When we get the massive surge of people both EVE and Dust back for the next Dust build on Sisi Will you have to cap the EVE players on the server to let Dust players have the premiam experiance?

AFAIK Dust has its own game servers, located in three datacentres around the world to try and keep latency under control (somthing not so much of an issue for Eve). I presume these Dust game servers connect back to the main Sol and Database servers in London. However, most of the load for Dust will be handled by the dedicated Dust servers, which is (I assume) why SISI can handle several thousand Dust players but starts to fall apart with under 1000 Eve players.

True but is a dust client causing more load then some one sitting in a station or less?

It's a really really stupid name. You have causality, chaos, duality, singularity, serenity, and tranquility. Now add Buckingham to the list. Why not call it relativity or something keeping along the name lines?

I believe it was called Big Ben for the Dust Alpha testing eaiser for the devs to make it a name that starts with B and they chose Buckingham.

i think you missed the point of my post being they should rename it to be more in line with the other servers.

The exact same actully. Even when in a battle. That's happening on it's own grid. The layer that holds communcations, mail and the market are not connected to the battle in any way as far as load goes. There was a really good dev blog on this a while back.... blue net or something CCP is calling it?

But yeah think of it like this. Your character is just datas. There are lots of your character in the world to do different things and none of them increase load on each other.

DUST have different naming conventions for their servers and we inherited it from them, as the blog says. Also we don't have a server called Causality.

Reading your diagram carefully it says that TQ is EVE's Production Server, and SISI will be Dust514's "Production Server" does that mean LIVE Dust514 games will be happening on the Singularity server only while testing is going on or Singularity will be handling all Dust interactions moving forward after release? Or are you going to have TQ handle Dust when you go into live release? It's just confusing because you used Production Server twice to indicate live releases... Thanks for the answer to the inane question. :)
This is the state of affairs as it is right now. "Soon TM" is looking into the future, but is not the be all and end all of the road ahead.
The concern is that Sisi might not be able to present Dust in the best light after the next release. With all the new code how is sisi handling it?
Sorry you've stumped me - in what way isn't Sisi able to "present DUST in the best light"? What new code are you referring to?

Sorry The question was unclearWhat?

Buckingham is being restricted to 200 people because of the hardware capabilities of the server. We don't want false positives on performance if we can avoid it. The testing we are doing now is to ensure that neither game impacts the other in a negative way (as well as to ensure solid functionality and catch edge cases of course).

Pssst! All the cool kids know how to do Soon™ with the ™ up in the air where it belongs.

For some info on the proposed ASB changes, I'll tell you that you hold ALT and type 0153 on the numpad to get the superscript ™. :)

Happy Posting!

It will likely just go back into the farm of internal test servers.

Any update on this? You side-stepped that part of my previous post :)

Or are we waiting for the blog to come out?
