'''''''''''CCP

Company Overview
Average Rating: 3.0 ("OK")

"Too much kool-aid, not enough substance," written by a former employee of the company's Georgia studio March 29, 2012.

Cons – The biggest issue at CCP is the distinct lack of true transparency from top management down to the employees who actually build the games. There are far too many secret back-room meetings that never get communicated out to the rest of us, even though they tell us that transparency is important. In a nutshell, top management are the type to tell you: do as we say, not as we do. Loving nonsensical pie charts, bar graphs, and point plots is a requirement to understand anything about the development of the game.
"There are far too many secret back-room meetings..."

If you're not working on EVE, then no one really cares what you're doing. It's the religion of the studio and if you don't worship it, then you won't have much in common with a lot of the employees. If you're Icelandic, then you're cool! Life is great. make sure to slip into Icelandic tongue around your American colleagues so we have no idea what you're talking about. If you're American... that's nice. Go get some coffee and keep working.

Seriously though this topic may be a rule 29 violation

29. Personal attacks and abuse of CCP staff.
There has been a worrying trend of increased personal attacks on developers on our own forums as of late, this will not be tolerated. Our forums are an area for players to exchange ideas in a polite and friendly manner for the betterment of EVE Online. Players who abuse staff will receive a permanent forum ban across all of their accounts which will not be subject to review at any time.

Let's be honest, those employee report websites always give employers a bad review. They're just letting off some steam, I'm sure. Smile

Honestly, if you're this unhappy in your job, FIND ANOTHER JOB!

Though, to be honest, this sounds more like the whines of an dissatisfied customer than an actual CCP employee. Not that it matters since all information is posted "anonymously", so actually verifying if it's a CCP employee or some disgruntled customer is impossible.

Meh.

It seems like a fair complaint. A disgruntled employee would probably make personal attacks and really tear apart a company with a rant about pointless stuff that doesn't matter. It doesn't look like that's happened here, the "ex-employee" is actually making some pretty constructive criticism rather than being a total ass about it. A point I'm not too sure about though is this:

Quote:

Pay your employees industry averages. If you feel so honored to be hosting amazing industry talent, then paying them what they're worth shouldn't be a big deal. Time to put your money where your mouth is, CCP.

Anyone have any idea of the rough salaries at CCP? I really doubt they're paying less than the average. The CCP Jobs page doesn't list any salary brackets at all. It doesn't really look like CCP have crazily high requirements for their positions either.

Glassdoor consensus says it's a fun place to work but bad pay and leadership probs... no advancement for non-icelanders. ...but the only people who post on glass door are pi**'d anyway so grain of salt. Personally, I think the best position you can have is being a player Big smile

How so? It's not like the Atlanta crew wasn't hit hard by the lay-offs, and it's not like one of the complaints about that part of the CCP schedule was that they had too many fancy ideas with too little result…

Now, Glassdoor scepticism is one thing — who's going to bother if they're not annoyed by something? — but dismissing a post for no apparent reason like that doesn't make much sense.

Haha, nice try bud, but a copy and paste from a legit site using glassdoor.com as a source is not violating anything. Maybe someone's pride at CCP might get scuffed, but who cares about that.

Well, I do, I really like this game and it disturbs me how much grief CCP seems to take from it's own customers.

if CCP was so transparent as they claim to be,there would be a lot less griefing.

Every company I've ever worked for has paid "less than industry standard wages". Then again, "industry standard wages" are a myth because most people don't disclose their wage. Last I heard, CCP paid alright. Not up to the standards you can expect from Google and friends, but you won't be hurting for money.

Ed: Also, if that's the worst they had to say about their game studio, then CCP is ******* amazing. You should hear the **** people say about their studios in the Social space.

AFAIK the Atlanta layoffs mostly affected devs working on WoD.

That was kind of my point. WoD was full of “awesome” but very short of substance, so it doesn't seem like much of a stretch if someone laid off over in Georgia would complain about how that imbalance caused him or her to become unemployed.
