GTK evemon no longer working, alternatives

I removed the legacy api keys thinking i no longer need em but as soon as i tried firing up gtkevemon, it no longer works. Also, to make matters worse it is no longer compatible with the new api keys and i lost my skill tracking app =[

Is there a way to get it back working or any decent alternatives to use?

I'd prefer not having to use wine and evemon because that quite probably will end up being a huge resource hog.

Oh, i'm running Gentoo on a vanilla 3.5.1 kernel.

He did update it to work with the new keys, though it looks like he never made a new official release with that feature, so you'll have to download and build it from source.

The dev doesn't play anymore, so any skills that have been added or renamed in the last couple of years are going to be out of date. Other than that, still works fine.

sweet!

thanks for the links. Thought he had discontinued the project for good since there was almost no information on the sourceforge page.

Got it up and running again

I recently contacted him about some skills, so the skills database should be pretty up to date.

Which file and which line do I need to change to get it to use https? CCP put the API onto ssl this week so it's not working again.

I've found in ./src/api/eveapi.cc at line 25 what looks like the socket creation but I don't know enough about c++ to work out what to change.

Actually scratch that. I had the ppa package installed from apt-get.

When I downloaded the tarball, compiled and installed it gtkevemon appears to be working fine. So get the source as the repo package looks well out of date

IdeaSolved:
gtkevemon_1.8~svn134-2 already support new api-keys (and legacy too) - you can download deb package from Arrowhttps://launchpad.net/~gtkevemon-admins/+archive/ppa/+packages

Check overlays: there might be an ebuild for the latest svn revision.

Already coded it from the source via the link that was provided here a few months back. Working perfectly so far.

Overlays have an outdated version.

Recently I checked WineHQ and saw that EVEMon 1.7.2 was working with wine at last. You may wonna check it out and report back any issues or findings.

GtkEveMon does still get bug fixes and I run it on a few distros.

I've fixed a few minor issues recently.

There is one bug I have seen on xfce where it flashes in the window bar and system tray when set as "Minimise to tray" which I havent had chance to look at yet.

I just use "Always stay in tray" for now.

Here's the source for 1.8.135 https://bitbucket.org/BattleClinic/gtkevemon/get/Version%201.8-135.tar.bz2 for those who like me find bitbucket a bit hard to navigate.

wow! back in my linux box with all my fav tools up n running :)

Kudos to the gtkevemon dev, seriously thank you!!

And to Mr M for the above link, the ebuild in the gentoo portage might have been updated but still doesn't parse the "new" API

Now, what about letling the skill plan be sorted by "columns" such as by training time? Also I'm not sure where it shows the complete skill queue completion, but only the skill in training but anyway..... the launcher thingy is freaking awesome!
