I like your new post much better.... We agree on most points...

Is it moronic for an assault frigate or destroyer to engage a helios?
Is it moronic for a taranis to engage a merlin or tristan or rifter?
Is it moronic for a combat vessel to engage a badger II?

I don't think people who lose these fights are morons (necessarily). There just victims of out-of-the-box tactics. If you do think that makes them morons, that's totally ok... as it's mostly an irrelevant detail... The important things we agree on:

In a mirror match, skillpoints make the difference between finishing in 5% structure or losing the fight... (or in the case of a 2 day newb vs a 4 year vet, they explain why the newb gets clobbered).

On the other hand, player skill has a huge role in knowing how to fit, how to engage, what to engage, when to engage, thereby allowing you to win against superior ships and against highly skillpointed pilots... and knowing is half the battle!

It still comes down to you can't engage anything until you've trained for 3 months for that single ship that might have a chance ONLY in either BS or frigate fights...or simply be a +1 in a larger feet in a useless ship where your only use is engaging a webifier and warp scrambler, and maybe that 0.0001% damage your pitiful T1 guns get you on the killmail. This isn't PVP..

And then, a solo rifter is not going to fly in to your drake, and then a solo drake will not 1 on 1 your tengu. PVP is pretty stupid, it doesn't exist. As far as I can tell, it's simply noobs trying to kill people they shouldn't be trying to kill.
Sure, maybe you're a vet that knows every popular space in 0.0 where there aren't always gatecamps and blobs and you might find a lone thrasher coming home from an OP and he gets caught in a bubble, but I don't call that PVP...
