3 remaps... confused how they work

What, really?

I still have my 2 birth remaps.
If I don't use them and I opt for the Attribute remap for the Christmas present, I'll have 3 total, yes?
Assuming I'm still active 12 months after my start date and have yet to use my first remap, will I or won't I get another remap? (That is, I have 3, on anniversary (roughly) I'm awarded another, so 3 + 1 = 4?)

Or is another only awarded 12 months after I'm down to 0 remaps?
I don't really want to use any of them until I understand how they work and can plan for how I end up when I'm "frozen" on the "last" one.

The 12 month timer starts after you spent your last remap.
