Sorry to kill the mystery for you. Coworker told me that they love it in Hawaii. I guess there's a restaurant that specializes in SPAM dishes.

Oh yeah, you can buy Spam sushi balls in Hawaiian convenience stores. That stuff is popular in all the Pacific islands. Not surprising, when your most common choice of meats is canned mackerel, canned sardines, canned corned beef hash, or Spam.

I have an appreciation for spam, ate it a lot when I went hiking through the mountains.

And then there was that broadway play called Spammalot which celebrated the glory of both Spam AND Monty Python. Good times!

We used to get spam fritters for lunch at school sometimes when I wus a nipper.

For the uninitiated that's spam in those big round catering cans sliced thinly, coated in batter and deep fried. Makes your arteries go clang just looking at it.

Ha, I forgot all about that stuff.
And don't forget about Vienna sausages. Got some the other day for old times sake, and they were made out of turkey. Completely inedible. Vienna sausages can't be made out of turkey-- they have to be made out of real... err, whatever that stuff is.

If you get you frying pan really hot first, and you do it just right, you can get spam to where it's almost crispy. It turns an odd orange-ish brown color, and it sure does stink up your kitchen.
